Conducts machine setup, trouble shooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs. Maintain all equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and repair as needed. Perform light body repairs, including but not limited to, replacing body parts, panels, bumpers and doors; priming and painting; and any other related activity. Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting if needed. Assist with inventory control through communicating part number utilization and remaining stock in inventory. Contains costs by evaluating service and parts options, as well as warranty provisions when available. Provide back-up for service line fueling, washing and cleaning. Perform snow and ice clean-up/removal at all Transit District facilities using designated snow equipment. Key Responsibilities - Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on refuse collection vehicles at customer sites. - Service hydraulic systems, electrical systems, compaction equipment, and lifting arms. - Conduct preventive maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacements. - Operate service truck equipped with tools and parts to complete field repairs. - Document work performed, parts used, and service recommendations. - Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, timelines, and solutions. - Ensure safety standards are followed at all times when working on heavy equipment.
