Responsibilities:
The Fleet Technician position is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment as assigned.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all fleet vehicles within assigned Primo Water North America locations.
Respond to field service calls.
Order mechanical components, services and parts and maintain inventory.
Perform and document all phases of vehicle maintenance and repair, including diagnostics.
Maintain communication with drivers and management regarding maintenance and service of vehicles and equipment.
Maintain a unit history file for each vehicle.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Experience with both diesel /propane vehicles and air brake systems, preferably with heavy duty vehicles.
Engine and Chassis Diagnostic software experience.
Focus on safe work practices and high quality while executing duties under minimal supervision.
Accurately record and document all maintenance activity.
Ability to use fleet software for vehicle maintenance tracking, input work orders, and inventory management.
Workflow -- Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) and US DOT requirements for commercial vehicles.
Ability to lift parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must have own set of personal tools.
Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) driver qualification policy requirements.
CDL preferred; ability to obtain within six (6) months of entering the position (CDL may be required in some locations)

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As our Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic, you will work on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop ensuring repairs are done accurately and timely. All your hard work is geared toward supporting our customers and maximizing their uptime. When a truck is sidelined, you will be a primary member trusted to get it back in service quickly and correctly the first time.
This role demands both technical expertise and the ability to think critically under pressure. You will be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing truck malfunctions or system failures, then determining the best course of action to return the truck to peak performance. That may mean repairing or rebuilding cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, or air systems.
Beyond repair work, you will also be expected to maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle. The role requires not just hands-on mechanical ability but also sound judgment, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver work that meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on forklifts, pallet jacks (2,000-70,000 lb. capacity), and other MHE.
Dismantle and reassemble equipment to OEM specifications and Navy standards.
Inspect and repair electric, diesel, propane, or gasoline-powered MHE and related systems.
Troubleshoot and repair drive trains, hydraulic systems, brakes, and electrical systems.

* Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
* Experience and knowledge of DOT Out-of-Service Criteria including CHP B.I.T. Inspections and DOT compliance audits.

This role works on a wide variety of fleet equipment, including class 1-8 over-the-road (OTR) vehicles, off road equipment, utility vehicles, and miscellaneous components. Our shop hours are 6:00am - 12:30am. During your first year you will work in different shops and shifts to become familiar with the services Fleets provides to city departments. Permanent shift assignment is based on seniority after completion of probation. In addition to regularly scheduled day and swing shifts, we provide on-call services nights and weekends, and 24-hour service during city emergencies such as extreme weather events. You are required to be available for on call and emergency events. There are shift differential premiums paid for swing shifts, paid training opportunities and paid weekend/evening on-call time.

The Distribution Mechanic B will be responsible for, under the supervision of the Distribution Department Foreman, performing maintenance and construction work on the steam distribution system. Additional duties could include welding.

**Summary/General Description Of Job:** The Forklift Mechanic diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and overhauls Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including forklifts, pallet jacks, aerial boom and scissor lifts . **Essential Duties & Job Functions:** § Repairs and maintains the operating condition of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including forklifts pallet jacks ranging from 2,000 to 70,000 lb. capacity, aerial boom and scissor lifts .
§ Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
§ Dismantles and reassembles equipment to OEM specifications and Navy standards, using various lifting equipment, hand and pneumatic tools.
§ Basic rigging procedures may be required.
§ Examines equipment and parts for damage and wear using calibrated measuring tools.
§ Repairs and replaces electric, diesel, propane or gasoline MHE and components such as air systems, cooling systems, starting and charging systems.
§ Repairs vehicle chassis, electrical systems, drive trains, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
§ Repairs and rebuilds broken parts and structural members using welding and other fabrication techniques.
§ Operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose component defects and performs repairs.
§ Identifies and researches replacement parts for order.
§ Performs other related duties as assigned.
May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

**Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):**
**Mandatory**
§ Four years experience as MHE, forklift or heavy equipment mechanic in commercial or governmental repair work.
§ Must have full knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot and repair electric, diesel, propane, or gasoline powered MHE engines, associated power trains, air and hydraulic brake systems, and all other component parts.
§ Must have a working knowledge and ability to diagnose MHE electrical and computer controlled systems.
§ Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classification.
§ Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
§ Must obtain within 90 days and maintain Company provided MHE license.
§ Must meet and maintain Company physical and security requirements and clearance eligibility when required.
§ Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
§ Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
§ Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
§ U.S. Citizenship.
**Preferred**
§ Experience with repair and maintenance of aerial boom and scissor lifts.
