Fleet Mechanic Levels I & II will learn and become proficient utilizing the company's maintenance software program to create and complete work orders and maintain work order/vehicle maintenance records. They will also train/assist other technicians in performing preventive/repair of facilities and equipment to include trucks, tractors, and trailers. Fleet Mechanic Level III will build on the duties from Diesel Mechanic I/II and become qualified as necessary with appropriate certifications to perform new technology evaluations, diagnosis, and repairs. HM183 will build on the duties of a Level III Diesel Mechanic, Certified as a (DOT) commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR's Has been signing test forms as the Registered Inspector for at least 3 years. Job Summary: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to work independently and in a team environment servicing and repairing diesel engines, tractors, and trailers. The Diesel Mechanic position consists of performing regular preventative maintenance and major/minor repairs to a delivery vehicle fleet and ensure the equipment operates safely and properly. The position also includes troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, ignition, pneumatic systems, diesel, and gas engines. You may deliver equipment or parts occasionally as well as move trucks, so a valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record is necessary. Input work orders, close orders, and input parts cost on system. • Perform welding and fabrication on equipment as needed. • Make emergency field repairs to trucks as needed. • Clean and keep inventory of parts rooms. Ordering necessary parts for repair on occasion. • Test drive repaired trucks to verify repair if needed. • Apply technical standards, professional judgment in making decisions. • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. • Ensuring your safety and the safety of all others at all times. • Ability to work a flexible schedule. • Abide by all company policies and procedures. • All other duties assigned by the Garage Manager as directed. Qualifications • 1+ yrs. heavy duty diesel and medium fleet automotive experience required, ASE Certifications a plus. • Familiar with troubleshooting and analyzing electrical/computer control systems, ABS brake system and air conditioning systems. • Strong background in diagnostics of Kenworth, Freightliner, International, Cummins engines, and Paccar engines. • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, chassis and powertrain systems. • Computer skills in operating Windows-based programs. • Experience with Emdecs, Kona, Cummins Insight, and Davie 4 preferred. • DOT inspection certificate preferred. • Valid Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record is required, Class A CDL preferred. • Must have own tools. • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers. • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills. • Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and troubleshoot for proper operation before and after maintenance.
