This is a journeyman position that requires significant technical training and/or experience. Also works under the direction of the Operations Manager. Duties/Responsibilities: Performs thorough and accurate Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections. Following schedules, completes all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation. With direction from the Supervisor, performs unscheduled maintenance as needed. Performs complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests. This requires interpreting and working from drawings, specifications and other technical materials. Must be able to utilize a ladder and other elevation equipment to access the roof of buses and elevated light fixtures for repairs and maintenance. Must operate CDL and Non-CDL vehicles (buses and vans) to perform road tests, as well as shuttle in an out of the garage for repairs and maintenance. Perform DVIR repairs - daily based upon needs of fleet and work orders being submitted by drivers. Assist with starting buses for AM/PM routes - (jumping off buses that won't start, putting ether into the system to start the bus, etc.) As needed Able to stand long periods of time while performing medium and heavy duty motor work. (Ex: Performing a turbo replacement, etc.) Sweep shop floor, wipe down equipment, tools, parts, work stations, mop spills and empty out oil reservoirs into main tank. Call vendor to have them come out and empty main tank to keep oil reservoirs empty and clean. Conduct monthly inventory, based upon shop manager schedules, ordering parts using the computer system and restocking them in the tool crib. Performs emergency roadside services as needed. Requires operation of either replacement vehicle or utility truck. Emergency conditions may require calls at home, extended hours, or weekend work. Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately. Maintains tools and work places so that workplace conditions are safe, neat and orderly. Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenance. Full understanding of OSHA standards and provisions. Understands and conforms to State EPA regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste substances. Performs other duties as required. Following schedules, completes all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation. This requires interpreting and working from drawings, specifications and other technical materials. Must be able to utilize a ladder and other elevation equipment to access the roof of buses and elevated light fixtures for repairs and maintenance. Must operate CDL and Non-CDL vehicles (buses and vans) to perform road tests, as well as shuttle in an out of the garage for repairs and maintenance. Perform DVIR repairs - daily based upon needs of fleet and work orders being submitted by drivers. Assist with starting buses for AM/PM routes - (jumping off buses that won't start, putting ether into the system to start the bus, etc.) As needed Able to stand long periods of time while performing medium and heavy duty motor work. Assign and monitor individual task assignments to mechanic on daily basis. Provide technical assistance to mechanics and work on aircraft, as required. Ensure mechanics maintain current training status on tasks assigned. Perform Quality Control checks on work accomplished to ensure highest level of reliability and safety. Report to Hanger/Line Manager daily status of aircraft on station and man-hour utilization. Ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate on all aircraft and components in accordance with MAC. Adhere to Company policy and procedure. Maintain aircraft in accordance with legality, safety and reliability standards. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Heavy physical effort required on occasion. Maintenance Manual Policies and Procedures. Continuous mental and visual attention required. QUALIFICATIONS: Airframe and Power Plant License. Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions. Thorough working knowledge of all current FAA Regulations. Thorough working knowledge and use of MM, IPC, SRM and other manufacturers repair and troubleshooting documents. Thorough working knowledge of blueprints, work orders and task cards to determine type of configuration and special instructions prior to installation. Extensive knowledge of aircraft accessories, components and other hardware. Comprehensive knowledge of estimating hours and materials for completing projects. Complete knowledge of aircraft fasteners and applications. Complete knowledge of all related skill area machines, equipment and hand tools. Ability to operate aircraft systems. Ability to do engine "run-up" and "trim engines". High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal. Must possess a valid driver license. SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Wear appropriate PPE as designated in each work area (e.g. safety glasses, etc.) High School diploma or equivalent Airframe and Power Plant License Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal Must possess a valid driver license Responsible for the maintenance performed by Class III ACMP, to include providing all maintenance documentation and applicable maintenance references TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: General Safety Quality System Awareness Must successfully pass the basic electrical and electronic class administered by MAC WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work performed in a shop environment on a regular basis. Occasional travel to line stations. Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
