Parallel with the on-the-job training, the apprentice will be also required to take and successfully complete courses during on and off shift and on the apprentice's own time with a designated college and other learning programs as directed by the Apprentice Committee. Apprentice Mechanic will also be given a list of tools to purchase. Under immediate supervision, this position requires basic mechanic skills in the preventive maintenance and light mechanical repairs.
