About Fleet Division
The Fleet Management Department (also known as “Central Shops”) provides fleet services to over 70 City departments with a combined municipal fleet of approximately 8,000 units. Central Shops is responsible for asset management, maintenance and repairs, motor pools, fueling services, vehicle acquisitions and disposals, equipment specification writing, fueling, and more. Position Description
Under general supervision, performs skilled heavy duty mechanical work in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy-duty and off-road vehicles and power-driven equipment, such as diesel trucks and buses, firefighting vehicles, compressors, generators, graders, backhoes, tractors, small engines (lawn mowers, etc.) and electric motors (on carts, etc.) and performs related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination)
Experience:
A combination of journey-level experience and/or apprenticeship training as an automotive machinist or heavy-duty mechanic totaling six (6) years in which the major duties were disassembling, repairing, overhauling and installing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assemblies in heavy duty and off-road vehicles and power-driven equipment. To be considered qualifying, this experience must include the use of machine tools such as valve re-facers, hydraulic and drill presses, lathes and grinders.
License and Certification:

Education equivalent to a high school diploma or general educational development (GED).
Must have completed one of the requirements below:
Dieselmechanic training program and one (1) year practical experience.
Two (2) to six (6) years journey-level experience as a heavy-duty mechanic.
Related experience that demonstrates abilities pertinent to specific job functions may qualify for substitution of the training program requirement.
All Mechanics must have and maintain the required tools, including a rollaway toolbox, to perform all duties.
Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial driver's license, including the required endorsements and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:

**Qualifications**

WHAT OUR MECHANICS DO
Our Experienced Mechanics make sure our lanes, pinspotters/pinsetters, and other building equipment are all in tip-top shape by performing preventative maintenance and making emergency repairs when necessary. If you've got a strong mechanical aptitude and a history of exceptional performance, you'll thrive as a member of our team.
A MECHANIC'S DAY-TO-DAY:
Abide by and maintain all safety procedures as required by Lucky Strike Entertainment and OSHA.
You are responsible for keeping the center equipment in full working order.
Fully understand how to operate all bowling equipment in the center
Adhere to all outlined preventative maintenance programs and monitor and perform daily center maintenance as instructed.
Take charge and ensure the shop and machine area is clean and organized.
Assisting the Senior Mechanic with the training of new Mechanics.
WHAT IT TAKES:
At least 1 year of Mechanical experience
High School Diploma with a strong emphasis on algebra, geometry, and applied mathematics (Optional)
Excellent communication skills
Ability to train new mechanics
Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended workdays

Requirements:

Telecommunications Mechanic I (TAFB-2025-23872): Bowhead seeks an entry-level Telecommunications Mechanic I to provide installation and maintenance support for the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) at Travis AFB. The TM I works under supervision of senior technicians and project leadership to perform routine service orders, assist with cable installation and repair, and support mission-critical communications systems. This position is ideal for motivated candidates looking to grow in the telecommunications field while supporting a high-visibility DoD contract.
**Responsibilities**
Essential functions will include:
+ **Assisted Installation & Repair** - Support senior technicians with pulling, terminating, and labeling copper and fiber cabling; installing jacks, patch panels, and raceways; and assisting with equipment relocations.
+ **Routine Service Orders** - Execute basic move/add/change tasks (MACs), such as connecting end-user phones, verifying dial tone, and documenting completed work orders in accordance with PWS service timelines.
+ **Preventive Maintenance** - Assist with inspections, cleaning, and simple adjustments on telecommunications systems under supervision to maintain service availability.
+ **Troubleshooting Support** - Provide first-level support in fault isolation using basic test sets (e.g., butt sets, tone and probe kits, handheld continuity testers), escalating unresolved issues to senior staff.
+ **Safety & Compliance** - Follow OSHA, NEC, and TIA/EIA standards in all work activities, including confined space, ladder use, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
+ **Database & Records Entry** - Assist in updating plant records, service orders, and labeling systems in CAIRS/TMS or CVC as directed by senior technicians.
+ **Customer Service** - Provide courteous and professional support to base personnel requesting installations or service changes, ensuring all work areas are clean and restored after completion.

**Qualifications**
+ Education
+ **Required:** High school diploma or equivalent.
+ **Preferred:** Completion of vocational training, technical school, or military training in telecommunications, electronics, or IT systems.

+ **Preferred:** 2+ years of hands-on work in a structured cabling, telecom, or DoD communications support environment.
