Knowledge and understanding of basic preventative maintenance and repair techniques of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles to include tank trailer inspection and maintenance related to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations is required. Diesel Mechanic Essential Functions: All fleet mechanic positions will be required to perform vehicle maintenance & repair duties safely and accurately in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment. Fleet Mechanic Apprentices will receive hands on training and instruction on preventive maintenance/inspections/repairs of Class 5 through Class 8 Commercial Vehicles and maintenance/inspection of tank trailers. Fleet Mechanic Levels I & II will learn and become proficient utilizing the company's maintenance software program to create and complete work orders and maintain work order/vehicle maintenance records. They will also train/assist other technicians in performing preventive/repair of facilities and equipment to include trucks, tractors, and trailers. Fleet Mechanic Level III: will build on the duties from Diesel Mechanic I/II and become qualified as necessary with appropriate certifications to perform new technology evaluations, diagnosis, and repairs. HM183 will build on the duties of a Level III Diesel Mechanic, Certified as a (DOT) commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR's and has been signing test forms as the Registered Inspector for at least 3 years. Perform all assigned planned maintenance on customer lift trucks. Maintain a service van and its inventory. Process paperwork after completion of each job. Minimum Qualifications Less than 2 years related experience High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to safely operate lift trucks. Preferred Qualifications Good mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics and internal combustion engines, and the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics. Good written/verbal communication and customer care skills. Technical degree, previous lift truck repair, welding experience, and knowledge of various types of testing equipment preferred. Familiar with tools and equipment such as common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder and various types of testing equipment.     Job DescriptionSUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery used to produce commercial electrical products. Additionally, the Mechanic is required to prove competency in operation and repair of production equipment as assigned, including but not limited to the automated production lines, clampers, tappers, automatic screwdrivers, and mechanical power presses. Effectively troubleshoot production line and other equipment malfunctions. Productively maintain equipment and performance of the required day-to-day tasks, while focusing on safe use and operation of maintenance tools and equipment. Perform welder, production line and equipment changeovers. Assist in loading coils on to automated lines. Daily press and equipment preventive maintenance and lubrication including power press inspections and safety. Intermediate electrical tasks and electrical safety. Perform hot work permit tasks (including welding, cutting, and brazing). Retention of skills as assigned, requirements and on job training. Safety practices including fire safety, fall protection, fall restraint, lifting systems safety, crane operations, and powered industrial lift truck operation Qualifications:Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution plus 3 years of experience OR Associate Degree or Technical School Diploma for electrical, electro-mechanical, or mechanical fields with a minimum of 1 (1) year of experience Experience should include electrical, instrumentation and control, electro-mechanical, or mechanical maintenance, or a combination of these types of experience. Knowledge and experience working with hand tools, multimeters, and measuring equipment. Willing to work on any shift, and work overtime, including weekends.
