Diesel Technician/Mechanic Department: Operations FLSA: Non-Exempt Summary: Primarily responsible to perform maintenance work on a Fleet of Extensive Diesel Engine Heavy Duty Trucks and Trailers. May operate earth-moving equipment or trucks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: On Call availability for emergency breakdowns Diagnoses malfunctions and performs vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements. Service & Repair Mechanics (HVAC-R) are responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and installation of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. Incumbents, as specialists, are responsible for supervising and training other members of the operation and maintenance staff including skilled, semiskilled and unskilled workers, in servicing and repairing heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. Service & Repair Mechanics (HVAC-R) are responsible for journey level work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. This includes overhauling compressors, pumps and electric motors, replacing parts and controls, and installing new equipment. The types of equipment Service & Repair Mechanics (HVAC-R) work with include ammonia brine, freon, carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, methyl chloride and lithium bromide units, absorption cold generators, all types of coolers, refrigerators and freezers, air-conditioning units and systems, humidifiers, compressors, ventilators, cooling towers, and other related equipment.
