What You Will Be Doing
EXPECTED RESULTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems following specifications, and manuals
Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctions
Ability to diagnose and trouble shoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
Communicates timely and effectively with shop leadership to keep them informed about major problems
May operate mobile equipment including service truck to retrieve down truck assets
Performs daily preventative maintenance, record and inspection on service vehicle to include fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, checking and adding fluids as needed.
Services pumps/motors as needed
Perform welding, repair and fabrication
Purchase parts for repairs as needed
May make service calls at other BURNCO plants or job sites as needed
Assist in training co-workers as needed
Performs general clean-up of work area
Required to follow all BURNCO policies and procedures
Perform other duties as required
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The primary areas of responsibility include:
Proper Preventative Maintenance
Timely Response to Maintenance Service Requests
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in leading a heavy-duty truck maintenance facility
Good working knowledge of mechanics as related to truck and general maintenance
Ability to use power tools, welders, cutting torches/chains and various safety devices
Demonstrated knowledge of proper mechanic/maintenance procedures such as lockout/tag outs and special work permits
Must be proficient with computer and program systems
Experience with Allison transmissions, Davie 4 and ESA software a plus
Ability to read, write and communicate in English
Ability to pass MVR (clean driving record)
Commercial Driver's License a plus
Provide own personal tools up to ¾
Ability to work well with others in a team environment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma preferred
2-5 years of Heavy-Truck Mechanic experience required
Experience with concrete mixers and aggregate haul trucks preferred

May be required to travel to various company facilities to perform maintenance activities

Diesel Mechanic Position Summary:
This position is required to safely and accurately perform general property and vehicle maintenance & repair duties in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge and understanding basic preventative maintenance and repair techniques of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles to include tank trailer inspection and maintenance related to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations is required.
Diesel Mechanic Essential Functions:
All fleet mechanic positions will be required to perform vehicle maintenance & repair duties safely and accurately in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment.
Fleet Mechanic Apprentices will receive hands on training and instruction on preventive maintenance/inspections/repairs of Class 5 through Class 8 Commercial Vehicles and maintenance/inspection of tank trailers.

What You'll Do:
Respond promptly to roadside service calls to change and replace tires on commercial vehicles
Perform tire mounting, dismounting, and replacements efficiently while on the road
Conduct thorough inspections of tires and vehicles to identify any additional issues

We are looking for technicians / mechanics who are energetic, upbeat, and have a positive attitude. The technicians we are looking for have to seek out solutions to tough problems with a strong passion for doing what's right for our guests.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Technicians use their knowledge & skills to diagnose and fix vehicles for our guest
Continuously build experience as an automotive mechanic across a wide range of domestic and foreign vehicles
Complete full, accurate, and honest courtesy vehicle inspections
Work as part of a team to troubleshoot guest concerns quickly and effectively
Follow and promote our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization
Work closely with the service department and effectively communicate concerns
Work together with other technicians to solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver distinguished results
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Positive attitude and a desire to serve guest
3+ years of experience as an automotive technician/mechanic
ASE Certifications preferred, or a plan to achieve
Capable of diagnosing and repairing all makes/models of vehicles
Meet or exceed hourly goals
Aptitude for learning additional skills and processes
Professional appearance and strong communication
A desire for long-term career development
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds
Be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above their head
Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair
Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand tools
Walk/stand for the majority of their workday
Drive manual transmissions vehicles
Efficiently navigate a computer
