Ideal candidates must be safety and quality oriented and be willing to work in a team oriented, fast paced, refrigerated environment. This position requires individuals to perform general maintenance duties in a food manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards.
This is a combination of Mechanic and Leadership position; it will focus on line coverage in assigned area utilizing production and maintenance playbook processes and tools. Under the direction of production supervision this position will be required to safely operate assigned equipment and maintain all line equipment. This person will mentor and coach line operators on maintenance and operational aspects of equipment and process controls.
The MT should be the initiator of activities and should facilitate use of team approach for Continuous Improvement and implement ideas. The MT should be familiar with all equipment to the point he/she can adjust and repair during its operation.

Position Summary:
Forklift Mechanics are responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining and repairing Dohrn forklifts.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services
• Support the tire maintenance program
• Perform service calls
• Wash and fuel equipment
• Perform other maintenance duties or assignments
• Provide assistance to senior technicians
• Lead the care and upkeep of the Maintenance Shop, grounds, and all equipment and tools
• Maintain a clean, safe environment that complies with DOT, EPA, OSHA and company standards
• Complete all required documentation and keep records
• In conjunction with the Parts Department, assure that all necessary materials, parts, service/shop supplies are maintained at proper quantity levels
• Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• A minimum age of 18
• High School completion or equivalent
• Valid Driver License
• Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Must pass a NON-Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and functional screen NOTE: CDL-qualified mechanics will be subject to a DOT physical examination
• Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen; Dohrn Transfer must receive a negative result
• Experience with forklift maintenance is preferred
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment is required
• Must have previous experience maintaining detailed and routine record keeping
• Manual dexterity required
• Must possess knowledge of occupational hazards & standard safety precautions
• Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently
• Excellent attendance
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Overtime may be necessary during peak periods; Must be able to work a varied schedule or travel based on need
• Heavy work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, and 100+ lbs. on an occasional basis
• Subject to both internal and external environmental conditions: work occurs inside and outside; Outside work may be in extreme weather conditions
• Subject to: standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching for sustained periods of time
• Subject to noise: there is sufficient noise to require shouting in order to be heard above the ambient noise level
• Subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical working conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals

The shop mechanics work on a wide range of equipment including ready mix trucks, loaders, tractor-trailers. The work schedule will vary. It may be up to 6 days per week of up to 10+ hour days with overtime on both a voluntary or mandatory basis for work week as well as on Saturdays, depending upon business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must obtain or be able to obtain a class B commercial driver's license
Safely operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects.
Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune up or preventive maintenance of equipment.
Dismantle and reassemble equipment.
