Responsibilities
Tractor Technicians are to perform maintenance services in which the volume and quality of work is within the acceptably measured standards for Dayton Freight Lines.
Understand troubleshooting diesel engine system with ECM diagnostic programs and other troubleshooting techniques
Capable of diagnosing, repairing, and replacing external engine components
Test and repair entire truck chassis electrical systems
Develop skills to become proficient in the repair of all major power and drive train components
Effectively and efficiently perform PM inspections and services, per DFL policy and time standards
Able to repair, adjust, and align suspension systems and brake systems
Maintain the tire maintenance program, per DFL policy
Perform service calls, per DFL guidelines or individual location guidelines
Wash and fuel equipment when necessary
Perform vehicle road tests to ensure quality repair service is performed, if qualified
Perform other maintenance duties or assignments, as necessary
Constantly have a positive attitude, interact courteously and professionally with fellow employees
Develop skills to become a leading participant in the care and upkeep of the shop, the grounds, and all equipment and tools

May be asked to travel at times.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Responsibilities GM-Certified Service Technician:
Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair
Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician, keeping in mind that the customer vehicle should not be used for personal errands
Keep shop area neat, clean, and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all times
Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste
Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor
Qualifications/Requirements - Service Technician:
GM certification is required
Electric Vehicle (EV) certification is a major plus!
Must have experience working on diesels and transmissions
Excellent customer service skills a must
Product knowledge experience is required
The successful applicant must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system; diagnostic equipment and A/C equipment is a must
