DUTIES:
* Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
* Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
* Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
* Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
* Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure that they are working properly.
* Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.

* Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
* Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.

Job Description
The Kennedy Center Production Operations Department seeks a technician with a thorough working knowledge in all areas of technical theatrical production. The position is Master Technician, Concert Hall. Applicant must have a minimum of five years' experience as a technician and programmer in: lighting, video, and audio, have solid working knowledge in: stage carpentry, basic computer networks, setting up bands and Orchestras. Applicant must have working knowledge of modern stage technology and procedures. Applicant must be familiar with the safe working procedures of a stage and its related tools and equipment as well as safe working procedures in a production environment. This position is one of the six “staff” recognized positions in the Concert Hall as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between The Kennedy Center and I.A.T.S.E. local #22. This position is a full time, hourly position with benefits, vacation, and sick leave.
Key Responsibilities
As JFKC Master Technician, Concert Hall, will work as a team member of the basic crew loading in, setting up, rehearsing, taking down and loading out productions. Master Technician will need to act as a leader to any over-hire employee's referred to work in the Concert Hall by I.A.T.S.E. local #22. Master Technician will work with visiting “Road Crews” to safely and efficiently mount productions visiting the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Master Technician will perform maintenance on theatrical systems in the Concert Hall. Master Technician will perform other work as assigned and defined in the CBA.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years' professional experience in Technical Theater.
Bachelor's degree in technical theatre; advanced degree preferred.
The applicant must possess excellent skill levels in set up and operation of theatrical equipment enabling smooth running performances. Applicant must be able to work well with others, and be able to prioritize in a high pressure environment. Applicant must have experience working with union crews.
Flexibility, the ability to work well under pressure, and the ability to prioritize in a multi-task environment are required. Equally important is the ability to translate the financial concerns of the Kennedy Center while ensuring the successful maintaining and acquisition of theatrical equipment.
Candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Performs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance on air conditioning units, fans, air handlers, water heaters, converters, duct work and system controls.
Request assistance from plumbers, painters, electricians, carpenters, and Building Engineers when necessary.
Coordinates inspections, repairs, and installation with staff and tenants in affected areas to minimize disruption of CNRIC operations.

Our Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanics work under the general direction of the foreman and receive daily direction either orally or by shop repair order.
Duties and Responsibilities
Independently operates a Mobile Service Unit from the Fleet Management Division. Inspects equipment at fire stations to determine nature of trouble, make repairs or conduct equipment maintenance. If required, arranges to have the apparatus brought to the Fleet Management Division. Overhauls large multi-cylinder (12) diesel and gasoline engines, by disassembling and inspecting for defective parts, installing and adjusting main bearings, piston rings, pistons, connecting rods and bearings, wrist pins, checking cylinder walls for excessive wear or scoring, grinding, refacing and resurfacing valves; testing worn crank for out of roundness and taper; reassembling engine and making necessary adjustment. Bores worn or scored cylinders and installs dry or wet sleeves and finishes to proper size. Installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical features of electronic penetrators. Tests all electrical equipment, low and high voltage and control devices for shorts, open circuits, and grounds and make necessary repairs. Synchronizes dual generating, ignition, and carburetion systems. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, overhauls, overhauls, and repair diesel injection pump and nozzle.
Overhauls and adjusts steering, including tiller assemblies and brake systems (air and hydraulic). Replaces defective water, air, and vacuum tanks, and connecting related plumbing. Completely rewires vehicles after fire or accident damage. Tests performance of engines by performing road test, using a high degree of skill along with a complex motor analyzer and fuel injection testing equipment. Checks indicators and gauges to ensure proper functioning. Operates a small light-duty wrecker and large heavy-duty wrecker. Repairs aerial ladders and the related hydraulic raising mechanisms. Checks and adjusts relief valves; replaces and adjust cables; rebuilds hoists; replaces seals and rings, adjust controls; and replaces turntable fear shafts. Adjusts and lubricates tiller wheels, repair electrical attachments such as warning horn, spotlights, starter, and throttle. This involves performing extensive test to ascertain reliability and performance of ladders and related equipment. Repairs pumping engines and pump transmissions. Removes the pump, disassembles, inspects, and tests for defective parts. Replace or repairs worn or broken (e.g. bearing, fear, shafts, sealing rings). Reassembles pump and prepares for packing. Cuts packing in desired patterns and packs pump shaft. Adjust shifting gears, clean out by-pass and pressure regulator valves as necessary. Test and adjusts priming mechanisms. Runs in pump packing and checks pimps for air leaks during drafting operation.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Monitors safe and efficient operations of HVAC/refrigeration systems in accordance with departmental requirements; corrects deficiencies according to PM/CM and manufacturers specifications.
+ Conducts preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC and refrigeration systems, as well as fan coil or dx units, and other equipment as assigned.
+ Installs and services new HVAC/refrigeration equipment. Perform all aspects of repairs to Air Handling Units (AHU) to include filter replacement, bearing replacement, motor replacement, belt replacement and proper alignment in accordance to OEM procedures.
+ Coordinates inspections, repairs and installation in consultation with staff in affected areas to minimize disruption of operations.
+ Complete Work Order and Preventative Maintenance (PM) paperwork in a timely and professional manner. Participates in the computerized maintenance management system for work and equipment documentation
+ Participate in the building management system. Monitor design parameters for status and efficiency. Assist in programming recommendations for the system.
+ Track refrigerant loss, procurement, and storage per government standards.
+ Install, maintain and repair all field devices for the Temperature Tracking System.
+ Participate in the testing of HVAC shutdown by duct smoke detectors.
+ Performs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance on air conditioning units, fans, air handlers, water heaters, converters, duct work and system controls.
+ Request assistance from plumbers, painters, electricians, carpenters, and Building Engineers when necessary.
+ Coordinates inspections, repairs, and installation with staff and tenants in affected areas to minimize disruption of CNRIC operations.
