Position OverviewThe primary purpose of the Tech III, MHE position is to oversee and repair material handling equipment (MHE). This role will oversee the safe operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance of MHE equipment including electric and propane industrial forklifts, pallet jacks, hi-low lifts, scissor lifts, scrubbers/sweepers, battery charging stations and cars, batteries, etc. Provide assistance to Supervisor/Manager of Maintenance to ensure assets are managed in accordance with the following: Equipment/parts manufacturers, equipment/parts suppliers, EPA, OSHA and applicable State and Local Codes.Job Description Benefits start on day one! Responsible for housekeeping, clean up of all maintenance areas/work areas on a daily basis. Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals, etc. for all systems being overseen. Assist manager/supervisor in developing standard operating procedures, daily work schedules, and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance for MHE and battery equipment. Assist in managing outside battery, MHE, and electrical contractors conducting service, repair and new contract work. Assist management in creation of budgets for individual projects, yearly capital and yearly operating expenses. This position will also assist the battery technicians. Duties will include assisting in battery charger repairs, battery changes for MHE, repair of plugs and tips of batteries and chargers, watering and washing batteries, acid spill clean up, battery rack cleaning, battery area sweeping and cleaning, and other general maintenance activities. This position will also assist the building and refrigeration maintenance teams. Duties will include assisting in general building repairs, electrical troubleshooting and repairs, refrigeration systems repair and maintenance, and other general maintenance activities. Travel Required: No Environment Warehouse: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F) Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F) Skills Extensive experience with Crown, Raymond, and Toyota material. Fleet Technician I or II designation will be offered to the selected candidate based on the minimum qualifications listed below. Complexity of work assigned progressively increases from level I to II. Essential Functions Performs routine and periodic preventive maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment. Conducts vehicle safety inspections, quality control inspections and replaces defective parts and components. Performs repairs on diesel, hybrid, and battery electric buses. Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, overhauls and installs electrical systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, suspension systems, steering systems, brake systems, ignition, emission, and pneumatic, mechanical and related vehicle computerized systems. Follows applicable safety rules and regulations. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications FLEET TECHNICIAN I Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Experience: Entry level work experience for one (1) year performing maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or equipment. Enrollment or completion of college level or vocational school coursework in automotive or diesel technology or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required work experience. License: Possession of a valid Florida driver license and be able to obtain a class B commercial driver license with air brake and passenger endorsement within a two (2) month period.
