Responsibilities:
* Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
* Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines and components.
* Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
* Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
* Read job order, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
* Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed.
* Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
* Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.
* Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the mechanic performs work of moderate difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Machine Shop Technician II - Afternoon Shift
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:45 PM to 10:45 PM Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire Compensation: Competitive pay + Excellent Benefits
Anchor Packaging is seeking a skilled Machine Shop Technician II to join our afternoon shift team. This hands-on role involves operating and maintaining conventional mills, lathes, grinders, and supporting CNC operations and trim press repairs. Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders)
Support CNC milling operations and trim press repairs
Inspect and maintain cutting tools and machine components
Perform quality checks using precision measuring instruments
Document inspections and maintain accurate records
Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate needs to supervisors
Maintain a clean and safe work area, including coolant replacement and general maintenance
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
3-4 years of experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
Machinist program certificate preferred
CNC certification and/or tool & die license a plus
Strong understanding of trim die assemblies and inspection procedures
Ability to read blueprints, perform basic algebra/geometry, and use measuring tools
Good attendance, communication skills, and attention to detail
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Exposure to loud noise, heat, fumes, and moving mechanical parts
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive motions
Use of PPE required (safety glasses, footwear, etc.)
Fast-paced environment with changing tasks and priorities
Pre-employment drug screen and background check required
