Journeyman Diesel Technician Job Summary: The primary function of the Journeyman Diesel Technician is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician in the course of the servicing. Journeyman Diesel Technician Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Receives repair order assignments from Service Manager/Foreman. 2. Performs work directed in repair order in a timely and thorough manner. 3. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed. 4. Advises Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by customer. 5. Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to customer and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Lead and/or Service Writer. 6. Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer's equipment. Attends training sessions as required from time to time by Service Manager. 7. Performs additional repairs required when any piece of equipment is returned by customer because of Technician's faulty workmanship. 8. Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on job. 9. Follow all Warranty Vendor guidelines while keeping service desk informed. Mark and retain all parts as per warranty vendor guidelines. 10. Accept and represent company department in all directed after hours call-out situations. 11. Keep work area in a functional and clean state. 12. Fortify a positive and cohesive work environment. 13. Aid and train apprentice technicians as directed by Service Manager/Foreman. Journeyman Diesel Technician Qualifications: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Five years of experience as a heavy-duty truck repair technician with an emphasis on engine repair. Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Working knowledge of P/C and Laptop Computers Excellent communication and managerial skills. Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred and good driving record. Professional personal appearance. WORKING CONDITIONS This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift; lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Must climb in and out of customer's vehicles to record information and road drive.
