Flexibility to be available after hours and alternate days. II. Minimum Job Qualifications 18 years of age. 4 years of dealer experience as a Diesel/Service Technician. Reports To: Maintenance Manager Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Swing Shift) The Mechanic III is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations both in repair facilities and in the field. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this role supports both facility and field-based maintenance needs while assisting in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, WUTC, and OSHA standards, requiring strong technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and leadership in supporting junior mechanics and shop operations. Key Responsibilities Preventative Maintenance Safely operate vehicles and hydraulic components to access service points. Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) and annual inspections per schedules. Grease vehicles and equipment per established schedules. Change oil, fuel, transmission, hydraulic filters, and perform fluid services. Conduct brake, drum, clutch adjustments, and suspension checks. Maintain oil levels in CNG compressors and perform scheduled CNG inspections. Collect and submit oil samples as scheduled. Inspect shop vehicles weekly and complete DVIR-related tasks. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Repairs Diagnose and repair complex issues with electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on equipment both in the field and in the shop. Perform DVIR repairs and certify work is completed safely and in compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards. Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses, seals, and gaskets. Perform manual and automatic transmission service and repairs. Support rebuilds and major repair projects as assigned. Provide input on feasibility and materiality of repairs. Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I standards. Accurately complete repair orders, PM checklists, and inspection forms. Participate in facility safety audits (fire extinguishers, exit signs, oil containment, hazard prevention). Support shop software implementation and inventory system improvements. Collaboration & Leadership Support Work closely with the Maintenance Department Lead to prioritize repairs and PMs. Assist in mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices. Participate in daily huddles and safety meetings. Provide feedback on process improvements, equipment reliability, and training needs. Qualifications Proven experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, and suspension systems. Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I compliance standards. Ability to diagnose using both diagnostic software and traditional troubleshooting methods. SUMMARY: The Shop Mechanic Tier 3 will use independent judgment and mechanical aptitude to work in the shop repairing rental equipment and maintaining rental equipment at the assigned Pacific Ag Rentals branch. The Shop Mechanic will ensure excellent service to both external and internal customers (i.e. - Service Manager, Shop Supervisor, Invoicing Supervisor, etc.) through the timely and accurate repair of equipment, including communicating missing, broken, or damaged parts on outgoing or incoming equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operations: Physically inspects and fills out equipment inspection forms for equipment returned from rent. Expertly identifies, makes required repair parts list, and quickly repairs various rental equipment including, but not limited to tractors, agricultural water pumps, large electrical generators, light towers, etc. Assist in the maintenance of the shop, warehouse, and vehicles, make deliveries and pick-ups, and work in the field service area maintaining equipment at customer locations. Ensures that in house labor and replacement costs are captured and entered via the work order system so that proper invoicing can occur. Ability to mentor and train Mechanics in Tier 1 and Tier 2. Repairs are 20% added to book time. Customer Service: Timely monitor equipment repair in the shop. Actively and aggressively looks for missing, broken, or damaged equipment to help lower business costs. Communicate with the supervisor and other mechanics about shop questions or needs in either written or verbal form in a clear, professional, and efficient manner. General Requirements: Comfortable and willing to move/use equipment such as, but not limited to, forklifts, large tractors, water trucks, RTVs, Jacks, etc. Repair body panels, hoods, and lights. Able to change tires and perform oil changes on equipment. Change seals, rings, belts, blades, and oil. Ability to identify mid-level electrical diagnostics and hydraulic problems for repair. Be able to fuel equipment. Ability to rebuild the drivetrain. Be able to perform basic Wash Rack duties such as washing equipment and cleaning chemicals to remove all traces of dirt on rental equipment. Interior cleaning including inside of windows, tractors, and other equipment which have an operator's station (RTVs, water trucks, etc.). Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication with management, coworkers, vendors, and all other business contacts. Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly. Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk. Attend training classes and keep tabs on factory technical bulletins. Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer happiness. Properly complete the service and/or repairs assigned by supervisor. Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures. Participate in, and utilize to the best of one's abilities, technical training as assigned by management. Ensure guest vehicles are returned as clean as they were prior to being serviced. Show the utmost courtesy to all guests, visitors and dealership personnel. Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management. Reports To: Maintenance Manager Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Swing Shift) The Mechanic III is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations both in repair facilities and in the field. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this role supports both facility and field-based maintenance needs while assisting in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, WUTC, and OSHA standards, requiring strong technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and leadership in supporting junior mechanics and shop operations. Key Responsibilities Preventative Maintenance * Safely operate vehicles and hydraulic components to access service points. * Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) and annual inspections per schedules. * Grease vehicles and equipment per established schedules. * Change oil, fuel, transmission, hydraulic filters, and perform fluid services. * Conduct brake, drum, clutch adjustments, and suspension checks. * Maintain oil levels in CNG compressors and perform scheduled CNG inspections. * Collect and submit oil samples as scheduled. * Inspect shop vehicles weekly and complete DVIR-related tasks. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Repairs * Diagnose and repair complex issues with electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on equipment both in the field and in the shop. * Perform DVIR repairs and certify work is completed safely and in compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards. * Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses, seals, and gaskets. * Perform manual and automatic transmission service and repairs. * Support rebuilds and major repair projects as assigned. * Provide input on feasibility and materiality of repairs. Quality & Compliance * Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I standards. * Accurately complete repair orders, PM checklists, and inspection forms. * Participate in facility safety audits (fire extinguishers, exit signs, oil containment, hazard prevention). * Support shop software implementation and inventory system improvements. Collaboration & Leadership Support * Work closely with the Maintenance Department Lead to prioritize repairs and PMs. * Assist in mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices. * Participate in daily huddles and safety meetings. * Provide feedback on process improvements, equipment reliability, and training needs. Qualifications * Proven experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair. * Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, and suspension systems. * Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, WUTC, and L&I compliance standards. * Ability to diagnose using both diagnostic software and traditional troubleshooting methods. * Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service literature. * CDL (preferred) or ability to obtain; clean driving record required. * Strong computer skills for work order documentation and diagnostics. * Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and drivers. Work Environment & Schedule * Primarily swing shift (1:00 PM - 10:00 PM), Monday through Friday. * On-site at Pasco facility, with potential assignments in Walla Walla or Yakima. * Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to shop and outdoor environments.
