The Tire Technician is personally responsible for providing proper tire inspections, repairs and replacements on the existing operational fleet. Job Description Performs repairs on tires only and must have and/or be able to pass TIA certification. Properly dismount and remount tires and wheels securely on vehicles and equipment. Completes daily inspections of all wheel positions on vehicles and equipment. Performs safety inspections and/or repairs of DVIR reported issues. Operate all related equipment and tools as trained. Maintain proper housekeeping of assigned work area daily. Perform other duties as assigned. We are looking for Senior Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Santa Clarita Hauling Division SALARY RANGE: $38.15 - $39.15 + $3000.00 Hiring Bonus * ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Will perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories Will respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment. Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines. Remove and replace transmissions and brakes. Repair, mount and dismount tires. Repair and replace hydraulic hoses. Remove and replace breaks Prepares and maintains records and reports. Must follow all safety procedures and policies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance. Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures. Working knowledge of: Mechanical design and fabrication. Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems. Skill in: Use of power and hand tools. Use of diagnostic equipment. Acetylene and electric arc welding. Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes. Ability to: Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays. Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field. Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Prepare and maintain records and reports. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public. Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years exp. on heavy duty diesel and gasoline truck repair. PHYSICAL: Must be able to lift and pull 75 lbs. Physical demands include bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, and standing. WORKING CONDITIONS: Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, wind. Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust. Will be exposed to working on slippery conditions and cramped positions. Work is performed around, vibrations, moving objects, noise, dirt, dust, chemicals, fuels including diesel, gasoline, and various natural gases.
