Maintains a clean, organized work are free from Safety issues and concerns. * Utilizes a variety of techniques and tools to inspect, assess, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions on a variety of heavy equipment applications * Maintains accurate reports and information on equipment and repairs to ensure accurate billing and service logs. * Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency * Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications * Brings to the attention of the shop manager any additional work required on unit or visible signs of damage including out of service conditions and safety hazards. * Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventative maintenance work on equipment and vehicles as required * Keeps abreast of all changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the distributors to maintain and upgrade technical competencies and knowledge through in-house and external training sources. * Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications * High School diploma and graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not required. * Experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic preferred. * Must have own tools. * Volvo and/or other dealership or industry experience preferred. * Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment. * Working experience with computer systems and maintenance software preferred * Strong organizational and customer service skills to ensure high level customer service * Ability to work overtime when required * Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written * Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, push, climb, move, reach and work overhead, lift up to 60 lbs. and work in all weather conditions Working conditions The employee will generally be working in an field/shop environment. Technicians ensure all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and safe so that staff using them can do their jobs as effectively as possible. This position will primarily provide coordination and support services to the Police Department (PD) relative to repairs and maintenance of police vehicles through the Fleet Maintenance Division. This position also provides support for vehicle shuttling, communication and scheduling of PD specific police equipment, maintaining the supply room and performing minor vehicle repairs and maintenance as necessary. Must have strong communication and organization skills. * Resolves simple issues that are reported to Fleet through the VDR system that can be completed at the PD facility in a timely manner. This would include items such as battery replacements, install spare tires, windshield wipers, topping off vehicle fluids, etc. * Purchases and creates maintenance and tracking programs for all Police vehicle equipment such as Low Jack, License Plate Readers, Brazos Printers, Radars, headsets for BMW motorcycles, SIM Cards for cradle point(s), PIT Cars, and coordinates repairs for PD specific equipment with outside vendors outside of new vehicle purchases or transfers between vehicles. * Coordinates with IT for computer and communication equipment repair issues. * Identifies and schedules window tinting, logo replacements for motorcycles, vehicles and other PD equipment. * Maintains PD key box and spare vehicle key needs for PD vehicles. * PD radio tracking, including vehicle radios and coordination with outside vendors for maintenance services and repairs. * Coordinates with the police department to identify safety equipment and supplies in vehicles. * Cleans exterior and interior of vehicles on an as needed basis for parades, funerals etc. * Appropriately handles biohazardous situations involving vehicles, which require communication and scheduling with outside vendors. * Inspects PD equipment supply room and maintains stock orders and inventory counts. * Performs pre-delivery inspections and check in of police vehicles. * Prepares and installs trunk kits in the back of Patrol units when being put into service. * Installs window stickers as needed such as car wash and express toll tags. * Removes all Police trunk kit items from vehicles when they are being decommissioned or on an as needed basis. * Coordinates with officers to ensure removal of all sensitive material from cars prior to vehicle service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Functional Responsibilities Utilizes proper procedures for mechanical duties and strictly adhere to the project lock out policy Follows established procedures in shutting down and disassembling equipment, replacing damaged or worn parts and reassembling equipment replacing damaged or worn parts and re-assembling and testing equipment to perform to required specifications Inspects, lubricates, adjusts and reports any condition that may cause premature breakdowns Repairs, rebuilds, modifies and/or adjusts equipment and parts to suit production requirements Repairs and maintains all equipment in accordance with the preventative maintenance program Ensure all required logbooks are maintained and updated Submits oral and written reports relevant to job duties Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in their workplace Utilize the Cementation safety system as specified within the site safety management system Other duties as assigned Client Focus Provide professional and courteous interaction with all stakeholders Ensure work is completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner Health & Safety Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation Incorporate Health and Safety considerations in all functions and daily activities of the position Monitor work environment for health and safety hazards or infractions and reports the same to Health and Safety Department Keep work area clean and free of clutter Use proper equipment for the job, i.e. stepladder vs. chair QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience High School Diploma, Technical degree, or equivalent preferred At least 3 years of mechanical experience required Certificate(s), License(s), Registration(s) MSHA Underground Certification required Trade Certificate Valid Drivers Certificate Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities Decision making and prioritization skills Planning and organizing skills Possess problem solving, critical thinking skills General knowledge of applicable mining regulations, safety codes and acts Cementation is an Equal Opportunity Employer
