Sets up the dining room for a continental breakfast. Serve congregate lunch and prepare food for the salad bar. Prepares food and packages meals on wheels according to established routes. Assumes Food Service Manager duties when the manager is not present. Cleans up the kitchen, dining room service area, and equipment upon meal completion. Clean and prepare serving areas and utensils. Trains volunteers according to current policies and procedures regarding food preparation, meal service, and kitchen sanitation. Drives a vehicle to deliver meals and to shop for groceries. . Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of proper methods utilized in food service. Knowledge of kitchen appliances and care of utensils. Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning supplies. Skill in dealing with the public using tact and courtesy. Ability to read and write simple correspondence. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to work independently. Ability to communicate information to customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to observe proper safety precautions and procedures in the kitchen. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, older adults, and volunteers at the Senior Center. Ability to perform work while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. Ability to lift light and heavy objects. Ability to drive a motor vehicle safely. Working Conditions Typically performed in a kitchen and dining room setting. Minimum Qualifications Six (6) months of food service experience, Serv Safe certification or obtain certification within six (6) months of hire date. Valid State of Georgia driver's license.
