Responsibilities
Assist with food preparation, including chopping vegetables and preparing salads.
Serve meals to residents according to dietary needs and portion sizes.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Interact positively with residents, staff, and guests, providing excellent customer service.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in food service or kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Maintain a positive attitude and effectively communicate with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership to perform daily tasks.
Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies
Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 30 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required based on State / County law.

Gem Prep is a K- 12 college preparatory school. At least sixty percent of Gem Prep students will graduate high school with an associate's degree and the remainder will graduate with at least 18 college credits. During the elementary years, Gem Prep believes in building a strong academic foundation to prepare students for the rigorous learning environment in grades 7-12.

Summary
The primary function of the Nutrition Services Aide is to ensure efficient operation of the school dining area and maintain an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness in which students may be served nutritious meals. The work is performed under the direction of the School Operations Manager. The building principal will be the position supervisor. Wage is $13.25/hr.
Responsibilities
Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of all food in the school food service program.
Maintains records of food service supplies and requisitions additional supplies as needed.
Receives and supervises the storage of all goods received for food service.
Oversees and participates in cleaning the serving, dining and storage areas.
Keeps accurate daily counts of number of students served.
Receives and accurately accounts for cash.
Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the school's discipline and instructional programs.
Understands and follows health and safety procedures relating to food service and sanitation to maintain food quality and ensure food safety.
Communicates effectively
Maintain student and school confidentiality;
Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with Gem Prep policies, procedures and safety practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalency
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Become the Nutrition Services Aide you always wanted to be
Maintain proper temperature for both hot and cold foods.
Interpret written recipes and follows written and/or verbal orders, requests, and instructions.
Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
Assemble/deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments and special requests as needed.
Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
Assemble patient trays to meet time tables.
Assist patients in completing menus.
Clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
Qualifications
Possession of a food handler's permit, if mandated by state or county regulations.
Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets preferred.
Recent institutional cooking experience and special function cooking experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety guidelines preferred.
May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed.
