One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Nutrition Assistant you will directly interact with patients and visitors every day. You will personally ensure all dining areas are safely sanitized, well-stocked, and food is appropriately prepared. You understand most guests at our facility are dining with us for a reason and take great pride in giving them one less thing to worry about. You will participate in and support all aspects of healthcare food service operations. Working with facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care and demonstrate excellent customer service to patients, guests and staff. Follows healthcare food service industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes. Avoids cross contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements. Maintains proper labeling of food products and ensures storage of food equipment, and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines. Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment. Maintains knowledge of recipe ingredients to respond to food allergy questions or requests. Follows organizational standards and guidelines for a high quality patient and customer experience. Ensures proper meal portioning and an aesthetically pleasing presentation. May be responsible for one or more of the following: • Cashiering • Serving in the retail area Assembling, delivering and retrieving patient trays • Performing cold food prep • Performing utility assignments (e.g., dish washing, washing pots & pans, maintaining equipment) • Performing catering functions and or delivering/picking up catered food • Supporting inventory maintenance duties • Supports / performs all department tasks as needed, including general cleaning of equipment and work areas (e.g., cleaning the tray line, equipment, coolers, office area, and emptying trash cans, etc.) Job Requirements High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. French Park Care Center We are looking for a full-time and part time Dietary Aide. Flexible schedule, weekend availability. Pay Rate starting at $16/hr. DOE. Prefer Skilled Nursing Facility Experience. Follows department procedures and storage of all dishes, utensils and cooking equipment. Ensures all food in refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage are labeled and dated. Oversees proper food handling and utilization of all foods to prevent contamination, increase quality and reduce cost. Suggests menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers and other supplies. Cleans all food service equipment, kitchen and food storage areas. Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service. Records food temperatures according to established policy. Assists with the setup of the tray line. Assembles trays according to the planned menu and tray tickets, stated portion, resident food preferences, and diet order and within the established time schedules. PRINCIPLE DUTIES: * Responsible for completing pre and post-meal time checklists for skilled nursing trayline and assisted living dining services. * Prepares meal trays for skilled nursing trayline and achieves competency in understanding of therapeutic diets menus. * Takes assisted living residents orders graciously and courteously, listens with patience. * Clears dished from dining room tables, before, during, and after meal service. * Assists with the preparation and portioning of nourishments, snacks, salads and desserts. * Sets up tables in the health center dining rooms and breaks down same after meal. * Transports hot and cold foods to and from the kitchen. Transports all required non-food items to and from the kitchen. * Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary conditions per manufacturer guidelines. * Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned. * Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense. * Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code. * Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications: * Strong desire to work with and have empathy for the elderly. * Excellent customer service and listening skills. * Be reliable, organized and a team player * Food Handler card (can be obtained after hire) * Six Month's experience as a diet aide, diet clerk in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required. Will train on-the-job. * Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
