The Johnson County Aging & Human Services (AHS) Department is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual who can touch lives and make a difference. The Johnson County Area Agency on Aging Nutrition Program is a team of approximately 25 staff who provide nutritious meals and other supports to 3500 older adults in the community. AHS operates seven neighborhood centers and two home-delivered meal distribution sites throughout the county which are open Monday through Friday 9am - 12:30pm. Clients come to neighborhood centers for hot lunches, activities and educational programs. AHS is looking for a qualified candidate to assist onsite with the operations at any of our locations on an on-call basis. Scheduled hours are 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, with one to five shifts per week.
Job Description
The job duties include:
Maintaining an efficient home-delivered meal service by accurately recording client changes, and communicate meal service changes to volunteers, and delivering meals to clients
Package meal components into meal carrier bags; prepare dining room for meal service
Report any client concerns to the Nutrition Office
Organize the daily operations of the Nutrition Center. Order accurate meal counts by 11:00am for next day delivery, and ensure the correct number of meal components are delivered daily
Complete required paperwork including reports and intakes
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Clean and sanitize equipment and food service areas
Handle other job-related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Required-Attention to detail, customer service, Human relations and interpersonal skills, ability to maintain confidentiality
Required-Physical abilities-lifting-20 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation

Position Description: The Nutrition Assistant II is responsible for being involved in paraprofessional dietetic work in a nutrition and dietetic service unit in a facility, institution, school, hospital or public health department. This is the career level of this job family where employees are responsible for performing all functions involving paraprofessional dietetic work in a nutrition and dietetic service unit or in a public health department. In this role they will conduct and assist in conducting nutritional assessments of individuals, including anthropometric measurements, biochemical tests using standardized procedures, clinical or physical examination, dietary intake and economic, social and environmental factors. Employees will also provide nutritional education to individual patients, and discuss dietary problems of patients with doctors, nurses and other allied health personnel.
Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
* Interviews patients and take diet histories.
* Reviews patient medical charts for dietetic and nutritional information.
* Assists nutrition therapists in determining appropriate nutritional care of patients.
* Gives individual diet instructions to patients with normal and modified diets, as directed by a nutrition therapist.
* Conducts classes on general nutrition and consumer education.
* Participates in public information and educational activities regarding nutrition.

Some positions may require successful completion of the six-month United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service Nutrition Assistant Training under the supervision of a registered dietitian within the probationary period, OR successful completion of the Oklahoma State Department of Health - Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Service, Certified WIC Nutrition Technician (CWNT) training within the probationary period.

The Cafeteria Aide is responsible for ensuring that sanitation practices and procedures are followed according to the meal program standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Primary Functions
Ensure that food service dishes and food service equipment are clean and sanitized.
Operate and ensure that the automatic dishwasher is functioning properly.
Help maintain an organized and clean work environment in the kitchen and cafeteria dining room.
Assist with the delivery of classroom meals.
Assist with storing food and non-food products.
Practice good personal hygiene and sanitation practices always.
Provide coverage with any additional duties and or work schedules as assigned by Nutrition Services Manager.
Secondary Functions
Help with special activities, as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
Educational, Training, and Licensure Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Five years of experience in institutional, commercial, or school food service required.
Continued Education hours as required by KSDE.
Must have or obtain a food safety basics certificate from KSDE within six months of hire date.
Must successfully complete all required orientation and training conducted by Heartspring staff.

Student Nutrition Assistant - 4 - Hours

Shift Hours: 4.0 hours per day, hours will be 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Position Function (include but are not limited to the following):
Prepares foods from recipes or instructions Cares, cleans, and properly stores equipment. Observes health and sanitation regulations. Attend the Food Safety Basics Class as required. Receives, unpacks, stores and rotates food and supply stocks. Serves food to students and staff. Washes, and sanitizes dishes, serving areas, coolers, preparation surfaces and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Nutrition Kitchen Manager.
Working Conditions:
Able to work harmoniously with others. Requires standing for long periods of time. Must pass standardized strength & agility testing requiring lifting up to 50 pounds. Completion of Food Basics Safety Class within 2 months of hire. Maintains high standards of sanitation and personal cleanliness. Have reliable references Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Starting Salary: $15.00/hour - commensurate with experience

Requirements:
-All employees must have a current TB test (Tuberculosis). If you've had a recent TB Test (less than 12 months ago) we can accept a copy of your test results. If it's been more than 1 year ago, you will be required to obtain a new test. Employees are responsible for the cost of the test.
-Must pass standardized strength & agility testing requiring lifting up to 50 pounds.
-Must submit a pre employment physical prior to first day of work.
