Responsibilities
The Dietary Aide/Dishwasher is responsible for providing assistance with daily functions of the Dietary Department and to maintain a clean, safe work environment for all resident meals in accordance to the facility, OBRA, Federal State and other regulatory expectations.
Preparing and portioning food items to help maintain the highest quality of life to all residents
Setting up meal trays and delivery of meals
Assisting with putting stock away on delivery days
Washing and storing all pots, pans, dishes and utensils as well as sweep and mop floors and any other assigned special cleaning
Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure resident rights and privacy are protected at all times
Ensuring the dietary work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner
Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
Work with the facility's dietician as necessary and implements recommended changes as required.
Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies. Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
Personnel Functions
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as with other departments within the facility, to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet 1he needs of the residents.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
Wear protective clothing/devices when handling infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids.
Report missing/illegible labels and/or MSDSs to your supervisor.
Equipment and Supply Functions
Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies, ect., as necessary.
Resident Rights
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care infom1ation.
Knock before entering a resident's room.
Treat all residents, families, and visitors with respect and dignity
Report complaints to the Director of Food Services.
Miscellaneous
Make only authorized food substitutions.
Assist in food preparation for special meals, for parties, etc.
Working Conditions
Works in well-lighted/Ventilated areas. Atmosphere is warm for cooking.
Moves intermittently during work hours.

Is subject to sudden temperature changes when entering refrigerator. May be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage area.
ls subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
Maintains a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for food services/activities.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Education

Assists in the preparation and serving of food for youth, staff, and guests of the facility in a friendly and efficient manner.
Maintains the cleanliness and attractiveness of foods, food processing equipment, and the kitchen and dining areas in the chuckwagon.
Cleans chuckwagon kitchen area, including cooking and serving dishes and utensils, removal of debris, sweeping and mopping floors, food storage, etc.
Provides assistance to the Cooks to ensure that quality food services and health standards are maintained at all times within the chuckwagon.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The person filling this position must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior food service or commercial kitchen experience is preferred. On-the-job training will be considered for those who lack experience but show a strong willingness to learn. ServSafe Food Handler certification must be attained within the first 14 days of employment.

Assist the Public Health Nutrition Program Director in ensuring that activities for the WIC Program (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) are conducted in an efficient and effective manner and that staff are providing services according to the WIC manual (DM 150-24) by developing, updating, and monitoring quality assurance standards. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate multiple continuous quality improvement activities and measures.
Assists in planning and updating initiatives and efforts to improve state-monitored indicators for WIC as well as agency-wide awareness campaigns such as Healthiest Weight. Completes special projects as assigned by the Public Health Nutrition Program Director.

Follows established guidelines and standards for safety in handling equipment, biological specimens and waste products to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens. Disburses WIC EBT and VOC/ID cards following standard procedure to eligible WIC participants. Instructs clients on using the WIC EBT card. Obtains client signature for EBT card issuance letter. Records the necessary information on VOC/ID cards and EBT card log. Reviews all data for accuracy and completeness. Immediately reports any discrepancies to the clinic Supervisor. Informs participants when certification expires and what is required for recertification. Keeps security/separation and inventory of VOC/ID and WIC EBT cards. Loads benefits into WIC EBT account for household.
Collects data for the end-of-day and end-of- month reports as assigned and submits same to the supervisor on a timely basis. Assists with inventories of WIC formula, equipment, and educational resources. Submits reports within the required timeframe.
