Job Description
Obtain vital signs and assist with various procedures. Ability to multi-task in an organized manner. Maintain clinic flow. Answer patient questions/concerns. Chart review and prepare required requisitions for ancillary services. Administer medications. Maintain CPR certification. This position may be expected to float to other clinic locations, it is not intended to float full-time unless otherwise indicated.
Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures.
Prepare patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; positioning patients for examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Verify patient information by interviewing the patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming the purpose of the visit or treatment.
Support care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.
Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies.
Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Consistently communicate in a professional and courteous manner.
Provide in-service training and precepting as directed.
Perform related duties as required.
May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Required Qualifications
Medical Assistant:
Requires graduation from a Medical Assistant education program.
Applicant must possess Medical Assistant certification within 6 months of hire as a condition of employment. Additional formal education in the healthcare field is preferred.
Certified Medical Assistant:
Requires graduation from a Medical Assistant education program.

Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

Physical Demands

Job Description
To assist in directing the operational, financial, and personnel activities of the Pathology Department.
Manage all aspects of staffing in the Pathology Department Assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures.
Represent the Pathology Department in collaboration with other departments.
Monitor departmental operations, billing, financial data, and objectives.
Assist in assuring all departmental certifications, licensure, and accreditation are maintained.
Assist in the planning and development of quality assurance programs.
May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other science focus.
By February 28, 1992, individuals qualified as medical technologists may substitute for an associate's degree.
Four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience. One (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience.
Certification: Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS or IMLS), categorical or specialist (such as Chemistry, Cyto, Histo, Microbiology, Blood Banking, Molecular Biology) by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Certified Point of Care Professional (CPP) by American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), or Clinical Laboratory Technologist by former Dept of Health Education & Welfare (HEW/HHS).
