The content strategist will be part of a nimble team of editor-producers responsible for coordinating and sharing news and features between our publications and companies. The right candidate has strong news judgment and a solid editing background as well as technical skills needed to navigate a content management system. In addition to working with MNG's publications, you will also work closely with colleagues at Tribune Publishing, which includes the Chicago Tribune, Orlando Sentinel and other prestigious publications. Please note: While this is a remote role, candidates must reside in CO, FL, MA, MN, OH, PA, or TX The standard schedule for this role requires a start time of 7:00 am EST What you will do: Identify trending content as it is posted across our network of sites to maximize audience reach by syndicating to relevant sites and channels Find the hidden gems that should be trending by understanding the newsroom production cadence and processes Prepare and edit posts to ensure accuracy and clarity and to optimize for search and social Monitor and respond quickly to real-time breaking news Craft expert-level headlines, balancing both audience engagement and search efficacy Manage sites and digital products, determining content placement and play Collaborate with MNG and Tribune journalists on special projects and initiatives Represent newsrooms on joint projects with circulation, advertising and product teams What you will bring: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, marketing or equivalent experience Experience at a daily newspaper or online news outlet Experience with WordPress desired, but not required Multitasking and organizational skills are key News writing/editing skills Familiarity with WordPress desired, but not required Knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines Word processing and computer skills required Experience working across a variety of social media and web platforms Able to handle deadlines and work as a team player Benefits and Compensation: The salary is $75,000.
