The Republican Herald in Pottsville, PA., seeks an experienced journalist to serve as Assistant Editor, editing daily and longer-term stories for the newspaper's website and print editions.
We're looking for someone who can remain calm and collected - and make smart decisions - in high-stress, deadline situations. This editor will also continue daily and long-term content for print and digital editions. Come join our team!
Though most team members currently work from home, the person hired for this position would be expected to relocate to Schuylkill County without relocation assistance.
What you will do:
Coordinate and edit news coverage from Pottsville, PA, and MediaNews Group's Northeast Pennsylvania publications
Organize and edit news and feature stories to produce consistent and well-written coverage.
This editor must be flexible to work weekends and holidays on a rotational basis as well as odd hours if necessary or if news requires
Work closely with editors in adjacent markets on broader and locally compelling regional content
Has solid command of language, AP style and legal standards of journalism
Produce urgent and compelling hyper-local and regional content
Direct reporters through breaking news situations and post accurate stories online quickly
Supervises a team of reporters in Pottsville and fills in on the regional news desks as required, editing and proofing stories and pages
What you will bring:
3-5 years editing experience at a newspaper or media outlet required

Existing contacts/relationships within the defined market is helpful but not necessary

Responsibilities of this position may include:
* Produce the live Canton's Morning News Show from 5:30 am to 10 am Monday through Friday
* Help schedule interviews and develop topics for the show.
* Record interviews and post them on our website podcast, create shorts for YouTube, and share them on other social media.
* Stay up to date on local, state, and national news and sports to contribute to the show.
* Be proficient in Streamyard, WordPress, Google Docs, and Sheets etc.
* Be flexible, as duties can change daily. Covering press conferences, sports events, and more is a part of some days
* Engage in a respectful manner with guests and listeners.
* Assists in special promotions, programming activities, and produces show/station promos.
* Video creation abilities are required.

Requirements of this position include the following:
* A minimum of one year of a show producer experience.

* Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations.

Position Overview
To update, gather, edit and create sports content for DenverFan.com. Ensure that all content on DenverFan.com is fresh and represents the high standards of 104.3 The Fan. The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates strong editorial skills and sound news judgment with experience reporting or writing for a print publication or online news outlet. This is a unique position that requires extreme flexibility, including work on weekends, evenings, etc. In addition, the position requires the flexibility and dependability to work additional hours during breaking news and other big sporting events. Works closely with the digital media team, sports and other departments to help make DenverFan.com a world class web site.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
This position is a hybrid role that requires the employee to sometimes work at our Denver site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management.
What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Produce written news content and features on Denver sports stories for station's website.
Receive writing assignments from digital sports editor and complete projects on deadline.
Post stories to website using station's online portal and subscription image service.
Offer ideas, suggestions, and concepts for the station's digital platforms that are innovative and creative.
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in communication/journalism with skills in the following areas: broadcast journalism, writing, computer and operational skills, related field, or equivalent.
Experience working in a newsroom environment and/or experience writing for print or online news or sports site or blog. Prefer experience as a print reporter, copy editor and/or web editor.
Exceptional sports writing skills including editing and grammar skills. Ability to edit, produce and create accurate, well presented content in a quick, timely manner.
Must possess typing skills and computer input ability. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new programs and HTML are required. Must enjoy working with computers and technology.

We are looking for a highly organized and ambitious Assistant Video Editor who will support the day-to-day operations of the Post-Production team. The Assistant Video Editor will support all editor functions including preparing materials for project edit, exporting, and finishing. In addition, the Assistant Video Editor will be responsible for specific editorial duties including interview cutdowns and reformatting, short form editorial content, and quick turnaround clips. The position may also occasionally be required to report to productions to manage data on set. Qualified candidates should be well-versed in the fundamentals of good storytelling and an understanding of industry trends. The Assistant Video Editor needs to have a strong sense for collaboration and problem solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with editors, producers, and camera teams to ingest, organize, and prepare raw footage from productions.
Prepare Premiere projects for editors, ingest footage, link media, synchronize multi-cam edits,organize b-roll, cutdown interview footage, and send out hard drives.
Manage all footage and data on set.
Deliver footage to post-production team and backup to servers.
Prepare and export finished content for asset requests such as crops, cut downs, etc.
Collaborate with editors and producers to pull project files and relevant video for brand projects.
Update and maintain hard drive tracker / spreadsheets.
Edit video content and support our team of editors where needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
1+ years' experience in Video Post-Production.
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite software (especially with Adobe Premiere, multi-cam editing). Experience with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Audition preferred.
Knowledge of other industry-standard tools a plus (DaVinci Resolve, Topaz AI, Izotope RX)
Solid understanding of digital media, video technology, and post-production workflows.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Familiarity with DAM systems is a plus.
Extremely well organized and a self-starter.
Ability to prioritize under time constraints and work successfully in a fast-paced environment.
Highly collaborative, team player.
Ability to astutely communicate solutions and workflows to stakeholders.

The base salary range for this position is $70,000 -$80,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position.
