The Moses Coulee Preserves Steward plans and implements on-the-ground stewardship and restoration for the Moses Coulee Preserves system, oversees contracts and agreements, addresses critical threats to shrub steppe habitat and associated species, ensures cultural resource protection in accordance with the preserves cultural resources management plan, coordinates research and monitoring, assists with data management, and forms strong relationships with tribal entities, partner organizations and the local community.
This is a three-year term limited position. It is a full-time (35 hours per week), hourly position with full benefits.

Essential Functions
The MCPS will assist the Moses Coulee Program Manager and other colleagues with stewardship projects on the 24,000-acre Moses Coulee preserves in Central Washington shrub steppe. The MCPS will lead monitoring and restoration work on the preserves.

Responsibilities & Scope
Coordinate and implement stewardship tasks that support conservation goals of the preserves, such as habitat restoration, monitoring, wildfire recovery, sustainable grazing, invasive plant management, maintaining preserve signage, trail maintenance, mapping, and data organization.
Manage contracts, partner coordination, neighbor relations, and project implementation.
Help coordinate maintenance, repairs, and overnight guests at the 5000 ft sq, 20-person capacity Moses Coulee Field Station, and perform housekeeping as needed.
Assist periodically with stewardship projects on other TNC preserves located throughout eastern Washington.
Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment (e.g. lawn mower, chain saw, tractor and implements, two-way radio, UTV, sprayers, seeders, etc.).
Implement required safety protocols associated with fieldwork in remote locations and tool and equipment operation.
Map, monitor, & maintain fence lines, removing or modifying those in priority wildlife areas. Maintain signage.
Conduct ecological monitoring of plant and animal communities, including learning about local shrub steppe ecology and species identification.
Maintain, organize, and update data using tools such as Box, Microsoft Excel, and ArcGIS FieldMaps.
Communicate conservation efforts, such as post-fire restoration treatments, conservation grazing programs, and invasive plant control to stakeholders, partners, and the public.
Serve as direct liaison with WA's Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager for stewardship work parties, partner engagements, and other initiatives to connect people with the Moses Coulee Preserves.
Coordinate volunteer site stewards, volunteer work crews, and seasonal staff.
Conduct compliance monitoring for fee and easement properties.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a 3-year term position, from approximately February 2026 - January 2029.
On-site housing is available at Moses Coulee Field Station located in an isolated setting 25 miles east of Waterville, Washington.
TNC has no local office. If not living on-site, a home office arrangement will be established, and must be located within 70 miles of the Moses Coulee Field Station located at 375 Moses Coulee Road, Waterville, WA.
Will work under minimal and/or distant supervision; will make independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.
Will work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances, with responsibility for personal safety.
Schedule is generally Monday to Friday, 35 hours, with fluctuations due to seasonality of fieldwork, and occasional weekend work is required. Flexible work arrangements are available.
This position requires willingness to spend periodic overnights at the Moses Coulee field station, be comfortable with overnight situations both alone and when guests are present, and maintain adequate daytime presence to deter unauthorized activities in a remote location.
Willingness to undertake periodic overnight travel to Seattle or other WA locations for organizational meetings.
Applicant will be expected to meet TNC's Youth Safety qualifications for volunteer events.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working independently and communicating effectively in a remote setting.
Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English.
Experience using common software applications such as Box, Microsoft Word and Excel, web browsers, etc.

Salary Info:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $31.82 - $33.81 per hour ($57,920 - $61,540 annually) for base salary. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Transport and clean cooking utensils and service ware in order to provide cooks, bus persons and food servers with appropriate equipment for guests' dining experience. Also requires cleaning of physical surrounding.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish or pot machine properly. Quickly wash all ware and replace in storage areas as designated. Physical strength and stamina are essential to this position due to the high activity level.
Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per hotel standards.
Operate burnishing machine to ensure proper finish on silverware.
Polish silver for proper appearance
Clean Kettles, tilt skillets, pots and pans promptly and completely so cooks can carry out their work.
Empty all trash in service areas at predetermined times and upon request from the manager.
Perform general /routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.

Separate linen from other debris.

About this position
This position is responsible for cleaning the entire kitchen area, cook ware, plates, glass ware and silverware and cutlery.
A little taste of your day-to-day
Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:
Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items, according to OSHA regulations.
Set up and organize work station with designated supplies and equipment; report shortages to supervisor. Replenish as needed throughout the shift.
Clean the total kitchen including food service carts, walk-in coolers, freezers, service elevators, and loading dock area.
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
Perform ware-washing tasks on soiled dishes from the restaurant, banquet, and room service outlets, through the use of the dish machine.
Perform the tasks required for washing pots, pans, and other equipment which must be washed by hand in the pot sinks.
Perform routine daily maintenance of kitchen.
Clean and polish silver and copper chafing dishes, trays, etc.; burnish all silver as necessary.
Sweep and mop the kitchen floor as necessary to maintain a sanitary environment for food preparation.

Essential Job Duties:
Guest Service and experience. “Sprint and Smile” - Responsible for quick and friendly service to guests and internal team members at all times.
Curb servers are responsible for car-side order taking and delivery of orders within predetermined time limit.
Required to be knowledgeable of menu items and pricing to elevate guest experience.
Recognizing new guests and welcoming them to the Swensons experience. Responsible for adhering to all guest experience standards.
Strictly adhering to seasonal uniform standards as our brand ambassadors; a neat and clean appearance is required.
Will use handheld devices to take orders and process guest transactions.
Financial responsibility for all guest transactions, both credit and cash transactions.
Ensures that temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, and service of all menu items meet operational standards prior to serving to guests.
Always promote and adhere to the Swensons core values and mission statement.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned or required including, but not limited to, preparing food items, cleaning tasks, refilling low inventory or assisting with online/phone orders when necessary.
Maintain all standards of excellence in the restaurants in alignment with the quality of the food, friendliness of service, cleanliness of facility and safety of team members and guests to meet or exceed brand standards in every aspect of the restaurants.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Exposure to extreme temperatures based upon variable weather conditions. This is primarily an outside position, and our operations are year round.
Must be able to exert high-paced mobility for up to eight (8) hours in length. This includes high mobility while delivering orders to guests.
Safely transport up to 30 pounds repetitively throughout a shift.
Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and listen attentively to team members, guests & vendors.
Ability to safely operate blenders, frozen drink machines, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment as needed. Ability to safely stock shelves of varying heights.
Ability to safely work in an environment that includes wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise.
Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic math and basic reading skills.
Available to work on a rotational basis at multiple locations.
Preferred enrollment in a post-secondary program or technical/training program.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and keep smiling no matter what comes your way.
Must have availability on the weekends.
Must have availability for at least two lunch shifts.
