Working in the Assessor's Office, Motor Vehicle Division, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, efficient, and professional service across Ada County Motor Vehicle offices.
POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs clerical duties related to motor vehicle registration and titling and performs work as required. An employee in this class is deputized to make clerical actions effective. The position is located in the Ada County Assessor's Office, Motor Vehicle Division. Incumbent may be required to work between Motor Vehicle satellite offices.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
A Motor Vehicle Clerk performs key clerical functions that are recurring in nature, narrow in scope, and performed under general supervision. The work requires working knowledge of registration and titling laws.
Essential Functions
Ensures that all applications for registration and titles are correct and completed according to the requirements set forth by Ada County, Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Tax Commission policy;
Determines and collects sales tax;
Provides applicants with proper forms, assists customers on how to complete routine forms, and witnesses applicant's signatures;
Verifies serial numbers on out-of-state vehicles;
Requests supporting documentation from applicants and reviews for authenticity;
Operates cash register and collects money from registration.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Composes letters and addresses envelopes;
Assists dealers in completing clerical work for titles;
Acts as a receptionist directing customers to the proper person or office and answers telephone;
Maintains inventory control and shipping/receiving of supplies and reports;
Performs related functions as required.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform the inspection and maintenance of new and existing valves throughout the city. Job Summary
An employee in this class answers emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and other emergency services using a multi-line telephone and 911 systems. Employees in this class have successfully completed all training and can function proficiently with the Law Enforcement or EMS radio system. This position is responsible for fast, efficient, and accurate receiving, dispatching, and processing of calls and messages. The work is performed under the supervision of a Communications Officer II. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment, frequently under stressful conditions.
Key Responsibilities
· Receives, evaluates, and prioritizes requests for emergency and non-emergency service from the public, police and fire agencies, County offices, contract agencies, and other callers;
· Interviews emergency callers to determine the nature of the emergency, location of the incident, other related information and the need for dispatching of emergency assistance using a telephone switchboard according to established rules and procedures;
· Processes the requests received according to procedure; determines as much information as possible from the requestor to enable the most appropriate agency of responsibility and the most appropriate level of response;
· Uses computer aided dispatch to enter requests for service and track officer-initiated incidents;
· Dispatches fire units, police units, ambulances, and other necessary emergency and non-emergency equipment and personnel to aid officers in the field or the general public in emergency and non-emergency situations;
· Establishes a priority to each request in accordance with established guidelines and enters the request into the computer-assisted dispatch system for dispatch;
· Maintains telephone contact with callers in evolving situations until the arrival of personnel who take command of the incident;
· Determines from phrasing, vocal stress, and level of cooperation the condition of the caller to provide a proper level of response to the request to ensure the safety of the caller and responders;
· Retrieves and provides information from DMV, NCIC and ILETS to requesting field units;
· Enters and maintains clear and concise records in ILETS and NCIC;
· Maintains accurate log of calls, activities, reports, requests, and related information;
· Monitors radio transmissions from field units to track availability and location and monitor for safety;
· Monitors radio transmissions from other County, law enforcement, emergency, and non-emergency agencies;
· Retrieves and provides information to requesting agencies on outstanding warrants, protection orders, and related information;
· Provides assistance, information, and answers inquiries from the public;
· Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County and Office policies, procedures and safety practices.

This position performs complex clerical, secretarial, administrative, and office support duties following established guidelines and procedures to expedite and maintain the caseload and special processes and procedures of the District and/or Magistrate Court as assigned. Key Responsibilities:
· Clerk I
o Training and entry-level position. Receives and examines legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to requirements; returns unacceptable documents, affixes seals and stamps to endorse, certify, and file documents.
o Prepares and maintains documents and exhibits, files legal documents and related case materials; retrieves and delivers files and documents to court or appropriate parties, maintains court records and files.
o Prepares documents in conformance with court orders, issues legal documents such as warrants, writs, subpoenas, abstracts, and other official documents on behalf of the court in accordance with policies and procedures recall warrants, exonerates bail, prepares judgments and dismisses or seals cases in accordance with established code and court procedures.
o Advises attorneys, agencies, and the public on the status of cases in a professional and courteous manner, provides procedural information, answers inquiries, and explains filing processes, explains and accepts fees and fines, maintains and updates financial records.
· Clerk II
o Journey level position performs all duties required for the Clerk I position as well as maintains court records and files, such as records of court-appointed counsel and experts, receipts, marks, and takes custody of evidence.
o Attends Court sessions, takes minutes of actions and proceedings, requests clarification of instructions and orders of action to properly note the official court record; impanels and polls jurors, records challenges, administers oath or affirmations to witnesses and jurors, and records jury service and compensation due to jurors.
o Prepares a variety of documents related to court operations and coordinates the flow of documents necessary for court assignments; arranges for interpreters, pro-term judges, and assigned judges.
o Performs difficult and complex duties related to reviewing legal documents and examining them for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to requirements; may provide procedural assistance to self-represented litigants at the Legal Assistance Center.
· Clerk III
o Advanced journey level position performs all duties required for the Clerk II position; may perform special projects; may be assigned to train and mentor other court clerks in various court procedures.
· Clerk IV
o Highest advanced journey level “lead worker” position performs all duties required for the Clerk III position and performs the duties of the Area Supervisor in his/her absence.
· Other Duties
o Performs all work duties and activities following County policies, procedures, and safety practices.
o All other duties as assigned.

Involvement with Illegal Drugs

The principal function of an employee in this position is to supervise a caseload of misdemeanor offenders to monitor compliance with court-ordered terms of probation for the protection of the community. This is an unarmed position. The work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Misdemeanor Probation, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment with some field work that includes exposer to potential personal danger.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management & Supervision
· Manages an assigned caseload of offenders on supervised probation
· Establishes and maintains a case file on each offender, scheduling appointments for established periodic visits
· Recommend modifications to probation conditions, including, initiating affidavit to revoke, or petition for early termination
· Monitors restitution and fine payment schedules, and documents, and maintains records of all contacts with the defendant
Court & Legal Proceedings
· Supervises individual offenders for compliance with court orders and sentence requirements
· Monitors court dockets and calendars and runs record checks to determine additional offenses
· Attends court and evidentiary hearings and presents recommendations and/or testimony on violations and sentencing
· Work collaboratively with treatment providers, attorneys, law enforcement etc.
Support & Rehabilitation
· Refer probationers to support programs, including mental health counseling, substance abuse, domestic batterers treatment, or other evaluations and treatments and monitors attendance at and progress of treatment
· Receives and reviews monthly or other periodic reports from treatment providers on offenders and takes appropriate remedial actions as necessary
· Monitors urinalysis testing and conducts home visits and searches
Other Duties
· Performs all work duties and activities following County policies, procedures, and safety practices.

· Human and criminal behavior, interviewing, counseling, and investigative techniques applicable to case monitoring
· Various evaluation and treatment programs, social and service agencies, and other community resources available to defendants
· Maintain a professional demeanor during stressful, volatile, and hostile situations
· Make sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, codes, regulations, and established procedures
· Operate specialized equipment such as electronic monitoring, alcohol detection, and personal defense devices
· Maintain defendant and department confidentiality
Special Qualifications
· Idaho NCIC access certification
· Must be able to obtain P.O.S.T. certification within one year of employment

Misdemeanor Probation Disqualifiers
Listed below are a number of behaviors which may disqualify an applicant from consideration for employment.
Involvement with Illegal Drugs
Automatic disqualification for use of marijuana/THC, regardless of its form, within the last one year. This includes the use of cannabis, hashish, hash oil, and THC in both synthetic and natural forms.
Automatic disqualification for use of any other illegal drug in the past three years. Unlawful prescription drug use in the past three years.
Any illegal intravenous drug use. Manufacturing, selling, offering to sell, distribution or transporting for sale any illegal drugs within the past three years.
All drug use and involvement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Driving Record
Automatic disqualification for misdemeanor DUI conviction in the past two years or two or more in the past five years.
Driving history showing a continuing pattern of poor decision-making will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Criminal Record
Automatic disqualification for a conviction of any felony crime unless under 18 and 10 or more years prior to application submittal.
Automatic disqualification for conviction of misdemeanor sex crime or crime of deceit within five years of application submittal. Any misdemeanor conviction for crimes involving domestic battery or violence, child abuse, stalking, or voyeurism. All misdemeanor convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
