A Direct Support Professional Float (DSPF) caregiver is a position designed to provide fill in or substitute coverage at any assigned service site and may be scheduled for hours that are vacant due to staff turnover, changes in scheduling or staff paid time off. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF LIVING SUPPORT / DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)
As a Living Support / Direct Support Professional, you support adults with developmental disabilities who receive DD Waiver (DDW) services to live their best lives as independently as possible. You provide this support and guidance in our assisted living homes and programs. Your support is needed in many areas of daily living including bathing, hygiene, shopping, meal preparation, transportation, and housekeeping. You are always careful to model appropriate social skills and behaviors. Your passion for teaching others about disabilities helps you become the best caregiver for your residents.
Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you also work with participants to learn new skills and achieve goals. You are happy to help them get better access to the community by assisting them with educational and recreational activities. caregiver is a position designed to provide fill in or substitute coverage at any assigned service site and may be scheduled for hours that are vacant due to staff turnover, changes in scheduling or staff paid time off. · Has access to program participant's files in the facilities and electronically and maintains confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and state, federal and HIPAA regulations.

Crisis Intervention Technique:
· Follows all behavior support and crisis plans for program participants.
· Utilizes the Company's approved crisis intervention technique if approved in the behavior support and/or crisis plan.
· Employees must a step back when a program participant has a challenging event and/or behavior and restraint is used as a last resort. Utilize restraint only if the program participant is trying to physically hurt themselves, someone else or put themselves in immediate danger.
Safety Sensitive Position:
The DirectCare Counselor position is a safety sensitive position where the employee holding this position has the responsibility for their own health and safety, as well as, the health and safety of the program participants, their co-workers, community members, team members and stakeholders. We are looking for individuals to work at our program with persons served who may exhibit challenging interfering behaviors, such as physical aggressions, verbal aggressions and property destruction. To be successful in this role we are looking for candidates with prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical. You will provide supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people who are faced with metal health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges.
We are looking to hire staff who are patient, have good decision making and experience working with behavioral management or crisis plans.

Direct care staffer job in Albuquerque, NM
Participate as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team by implementing the Individualized Support Plan and providing regular feedback on the individual's progress. Advocate on behalf of the individual to ensure all health and safety needs are addressed with respect and dignity.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collaborate in assessing the progress of individuals and contribute to the development of appropriate plans to achieve specific ISP objectives.
2. Document daily updates and progress reports related to individuals' development via Therap and verbal communication.
3. Serve as a positive role model for individuals supported and colleagues.
4. Facilitate community integration activities and implement behavior management strategies.
5. Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, medication administration, and other areas outlined in the ISP.
6. Provide transportation to individuals supported to access community resources and activities, utilizing personal vehicles when applicable.
7. Identify community-based services and activities-including social, volunteer, recreational, educational, and economic opportunities-that align with the individual's needs and interests.
8. Prioritize activities related to employment goals during planning and implementation.
9. Offer emotional support and constructive feedback to individuals and their families.
10. Complete all required training and adhere to HeartWell Policies & Procedures.
