Our Direct Support Professionals have the ability to assist persons served with developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and behavioral issues in a residential setting providing support and encouragement to work towards outcomes and goals to gain life skills. We have a variety of full time and part time shifts available throughout the metro area.
Duties and Responsibilities
Job duties and responsibilities of the position vary to meet the needs of persons served but may include:
Meal planning/preparation.
Facilitation of community activities by using company vehicles.
Assisting with personal and medical cares (helping with dressing, bathing, etc.)
Behavior management.
Medication administration.
Available Shifts
We have three shift types available all seven days of the week:
Mornings- 6am-2pm
Evenings- 2pm-10pm
Overnights (Awake or Asleep)- 10pm-6am

This Role: The Shelter Worker provides basic direct services to adult emergency shelter guests of Our Saviour's Housing and works to ensure that the shelter is clean, safe, and welcoming for all guests, volunteers, and community members. Perform housekeeping duties, such as maintaining cleanliness, washing dishes, and doing laundry. Occasionally, this may include cleaning up bodily fluids and hazardous materials.
Create and maintain a positive, safe, and non-threatening atmosphere for all shelter guests, staff, and volunteers.
Ensures the shelter's operating policies and procedures are communicated and implemented with the shelter guests, visitors, and volunteers.
Set and maintain professional boundaries for guests, staff, and volunteers.
Use good conflict management and crisis intervention techniques to diffuse difficult situations.
Provide guest services, including orientation to shelter guests, making a wake-up call, serving meals, and attending to other needs of the shelter.
Welcomes and supports volunteers and collaborates with the Volunteer Coordinator about the volunteer experience.
Collaborates and keeps open communication between the staff and management by tracking events and important information in the logbook, email, and other methods.
Attends and participates in team activities, training, and staff meetings.

Job Description
The Behavioral Health DirectCare Specialist (BHDCS) provides direct support to individuals experiencing significant mental health challenges and is responsible for the development, revision, and implementation of support plans aimed at helping the person being served achieve their highest degree of stability. The BHDCS works directcare hours with individuals assigned by the APD during day/evening hours. The BHDCS will develop an understanding of the person's care plan through a review of all assessments and implementation of those care plans. The BHDCS will provide recommendations for adjustments based off their experience and support the training of the Direct Support Professional staff and Program Supervisors to best practices for supporting the person served. The MHPS will ensure plans are developed which respect the rights and needs of the people they support as well as The Phoenix Residence, Inc. policies and procedures. The BHDCS assists in the coordination and implementation of Coordinated Service and Support Plans/Individual Program Plans which include programs in activities of daily living, community integration, socialization, health management, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The BHDCS is responsible for working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges as identified by the administrative team. The MHPS will work with these individuals to better understand their needs and develop updated strategies to be implemented by the support team. The BHDCS schedule will change depending on their assignment and they may be working with multiple individuals at multiple locations.
Individual Services:
· Performs all requirements of the Support Professional position to include:
o Plan, perform, or assist with cares or activities with individuals according to their preference or needs, to include, but not limited to: household chores (cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, laundry, dishes, vacuuming, fixing bed, household maintenance, etc.), community involvement, social, recreation and leisure skills, communication skills, personal safety skills, appropriate behavior.
· Implements Positive Support Strategies contained within a person's care plan, updates and develops those strategies as appropriate and initiates training where needed.
o Intervention will be in compliance with the Positive Support Rule and will utilize a Person-Centered approach.
· Documents all activities and plan adjustments in accordance with Phoenix procedures.
· Provides direction and support for individuals with mental health diagnosis, including training for staff and acting as a liaison with behavior and mental health professionals.
· Advocates for the needs of the individuals residing within the home.
· Identifies and responds to individual needs in emotional and social areas; however, intervention in these areas does not fall within the meaning of psychotherapy.
· Performs tasks which fall within Category II of infection control, which may include exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
Safety:
· Adheres to all safety policies and procedures, fosters awareness and actions that promote a safe living and working environment.
· Follows established lifting and transfer guidelines. Trains others in proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
Regulation Compliance:
· Understands, implements, and complies with all policies, procedures, and philosophy of PRI; as well as all rules and regulations of licensing agencies.
· Has working knowledge of rules and regulations including but not limited to ICF/ID Federal Regulations, Rule 245D, Rule 10, 185, Positive Support Rule, Supervised Living Facility Regulations, Life Safety Code, Food and Beverage, funding rules and employment laws.

· Participates in continuing education as assigned.

What You'll Do:
Work directly with vulnerable adults living with mental illnesses.
Ensure the safety and well-being of the persons served at all times.
Reflect the values of respect for others, honesty, patience, and compassion through your communication skills, interpersonal, and professional relationships.
Assist the persons served on active treatment services, daily living skills, administering medications, transporting persons served, communication and documentation, health and safety, and continued development.
Support the Designated Coordinator with tasks such as scheduling, payroll, reviewing documentation and delegating tasks to other team members as needed.
What You'll Need:
Must be 18 years or older.
Valid driver's license.

Position Summary: The Outdoor Skills Instructor will provide basic camping instruction, paddling instruction and environmental education for the I Can Paddle! and I Can Camp! programs. I Can Paddle! and I Can Camp! are part of several I Can! programs, developed and implemented by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). I Can! programs introduce Minnesotans, especially families and people who are new to outdoor recreation, to a variety of outdoor activities including camping, fishing, paddling and mountain biking.
Every weekend throughout the summer season the Outdoor Skills Instructors will co-lead canoeing and kayaking paddling sessions as well as overnight camping workshops throughout their term. Each pair of instructors will be responsible for one of the following.
Teaching introductory paddling skills in the format of two-hour paddling workshops at Minnesota state parks. Up to two sessions per day.
Teaching introductory camping skills in the format of one or two-night overnight camp skills workshops taking place in MN state parks.
During the summer, instructors will travel and camp at state parks throughout Minnesota before and during programming. Instructors are responsible for monitoring weather and completing pre-trip calls with DNR staff to ensure workshops are safe to hold. Instructors will provide environmental education, offering information about local ecology and natural resources during each trip. Instructors will also handle day-of workshop operations including communicating any necessary workshop cancellations, properly cleaning and storing all equipment and maintaining regular communication with DNR and Conservation Corps staff.
Outdoor Skills Instructors must be able to serve effectively on a team comprised of their peers, helping fellow members achieve personal and program success through the principles of team-work and service-learning. Members must be responsive to instructions and feedback delivered by the Crew Leader, Regional Staff, and DNR staff. Outdoor Skills Instructors will be required to attend weekly team meetings and additional training opportunities throughout their term.
Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate and provide instruction for camping and paddling workshops
Coordinate workshop logistics for multiple paddling and camping workshops each week, including communicating with the parks, co-leaders, and supervisors ahead of programming.
Communicate logistical details and equipment needs, including inventorying, organizing, cleaning, and repairing program gear throughout the term.
Abide by Corps program safety regulations as well as applicable federal/state/municipal law and OSHA requirements; communicate any safety concerns and incidents
Review safety protocols daily, begin each workshop with a safety briefing, ensure workshop participants follow safety protocols and abide by the rules of the Park, ensure adequate safety equipment, first-aid kit and functioning communication devices are available on all workshops
Contribute actively to the team to complete projects, demonstrating a commitment to the Corps values of safety, justice, stewardship, community and leadership.
Positive attitude, desire to learn new skills, interest in community service; represent Conservation Corps in positive manner in public
Commit to completing the entire service term per the start and end dates listed on the Member Service Agreement
Complete and approve timecards and other required reports and paperwork in timely manner
Hours & Schedule: Late May - Mid August 2026
Schedules can vary, depending on crew location. Crew members should expect to be scheduled for at least
30 hours per week. A typical schedule is Thursday - Sunday, with hours varying depending on workshop schedules and locations. A Monday-Friday schedule is typical for the first several weeks to accommodate training needs. Days include a mandatory 30-minute lunch break which does not count towards hours. Overnight travel (3 - 4 consecutive days) is often required for workshops.
Training & Development
The Corps provides orientation and skills training at the start of the program year. Additional region or project specific training may be included throughout the service term depending on project need, length of term and other factors. Examples of potential trainings include:

This Role: The Shelter Worker provides basic direct services to adult emergency shelter guests of Our Saviour's Housing and works to ensure that the shelter is clean, safe, and welcoming for all guests, volunteers, and community members. This position is non-exempt, hourly, full-time/part-time, regularly scheduled 24-40 hours to work weekly, and reports to the Emergency Shelter Manager. The employee would also be “on-call” one week per month. The employee would receive an on-call stipend and pay for any hours worked.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Follows OSCS mission and vision, policies, and procedures.
Perform shelter guests, volunteers, and internal customer support.
Performs front desk service, keeping track of people who go in and out of the shelter and monitors the security camera system.
Perform housekeeping duties, such as maintaining cleanliness, washing dishes, and doing laundry. Occasionally, this may include cleaning up bodily fluids and hazardous materials.
Create and maintain a positive, safe, and non-threatening atmosphere for all shelter guests, staff, and volunteers.
Ensures the shelter's operating policies and procedures are communicated and implemented with the shelter guests, visitors, and volunteers.
Set and maintain professional boundaries for guests, staff, and volunteers.
Use good conflict management and crisis intervention techniques to diffuse difficult situations.
Provide guest services, including orientation to shelter guests, making a wake-up call, serving meals, and attending to other needs of the shelter.
Welcomes and supports volunteers and collaborates with the Volunteer Coordinator about the volunteer experience.
Collaborates and keeps open communication between the staff and management by tracking events and important information in the logbook, email, and other methods.
Attends and participates in team activities, training, and staff meetings.
Other duties as requested and time permits.

· Documents all activities and plan adjustments in accordance with Phoenix procedures.

· Advocates for the needs of the individuals residing within the home.
· Identifies and responds to individual needs in emotional and social areas; however, intervention in these areas does not fall within the meaning of psychotherapy.
· Performs tasks which fall within Category II of infection control, which may include exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
