General The Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Community Living Supports is responsible for providing individualized services that promote independence, informed choice, personal growth, and community participation for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Supports occur in the person's home, neighborhood, or broader community and are delivered in accordance with the Individual Support Plan (ISP), Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 411-450, and Shangri-La policies and procedures. These services are intended to be flexible and responsive to the person's unique strengths, preferences, and needs.
Position Details:
Status: Part Time up to 29 Hours
Location: Salem, OR
Shift: This position has varying hours including weekends and evenings and must have on-call availability
Starting wage: $20.14 Hourly
Wage Scale: $20.14 to $25.48Report to: CES - Manager
Knowledge:
Knowledge: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Candidates must have a valid Oregon Driver's License, an acceptable driving record, and must be able to pass a criminal background check. A strong understanding of person-centered planning, alternative communication strategies, the principles of dignity of risk, and the ability to implement trauma-informed support practices is preferred. The DSP must be proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning and using current and future electronic documentation systems and workplace technologies.

The Child Abuse Medical Provider provides forensic medical evaluation and consultation
services to children and youth referred for concerns of abuse and neglect. This is a unique
opportunity for a talented and motivated individual with experience in pediatrics or family
medicine to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to contribute to the prevention,
evaluation and treatment of child abuse.
Principle responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide complete child abuse assessment and consultation services to children referred with concerns of child abuse and neglect.
• Conduct forensic medical examinations of children and youth. Determine child and family's medical and social needs, including emotional and psychological concerns, and make appropriate recommendations.
• Complete all required medical documentation, including photo-documentation, electronic health record system and patient charts. Prepare reports for client records and investigations.
• In coordination with the Medical Director, serve as a designated medical provider for suspicious physical injury cases referred under Karly's Law. Provide additional medical consultation for multidisciplinary team members and local medical providers on child abuse issues as needed.
• Regularly participate in case review with the multidisciplinary teams in coordination with other medical providers.
• Provide expert and fact witness testimony in Benton and Linn County proceedings and other jurisdictions as required.
• Assist in establishing medical policy and protocols in accordance with ABC House's mission, vision and goals.
• Complete a minimum of eight hours of continuing medical education in child abuse medicine annually and participate in additional quality assurance activities including consultation with child abuse experts, literature review and peer review.
• Share call-phone duties at minimum one week per month
• Additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
• This position is open to MD or DO with a license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon. Pediatrics or Family Medicine preferred.
• Experience with child abuse medicine preferred.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary partners, including law enforcement, child protective services, mental health providers and non-medical professionals.
• Ability to communicate compassionately and remain objective and non-judgmental.
• Ability to calmly and effectively deal with people in crisis.
• Spanish speaker is a plus.

Position Summary

What We're Looking For
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 12+ months in a group home or similar care setting preferred.
High Medical Care: Experience with G-tubes, feeding tubes, catheter care
ASL (American Sign Language) (or willingness to learn)
Skills & Traits: Compassionate, patient, adaptable, and an excellent communicator.
Certifications:
Current CPR & First Aid (or ability to obtain prior to hire)
Oregon Intervention System (OIS) certification (or ability to obtain prior to hire)
DSP Tier 1 & Tier 2 Core Competencies (or willingness to complete training)
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license (minimum 6 months) and reliable transportation
Clean driving record
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

A Direct Support Specialist (DSS) is a highly experienced individual who has an extensive background working with I/DD individuals, including following Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) and implementing protocols. They support individuals to succeed in their life skills, independence, community integration, and much more! They assist the individual in accomplishing their goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP). If you are looking for a career path, then DSP Connections is for you!
Pay scale: Starting rate of $27 an hour with a fast track to $30 an hour.
Day Shift, Swing Shift /Noc Shift Available:
6am-6pm & 6pm-6am
Must be flexible with what days of the week you work and willing/able to stay if there are call outs.
This role is based in Salem, OR.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years' experience supporting individuals in the I/DD community
* Oregon Intervention System (OIS) training (will provide class opportunities)
* CPR/First aid training within 30 days of hire (will provide class opportunities)
* Reliable transportation to/from work
* Ability to follow a Positive Behavior Support Plan
* Ability to work within a team of Direct Support staff
* Valid driver's license, insurance, and clean driving record. A motor vehicle report will be run on all DSSs who transport clients in a company vehicle.
* Positive and outgoing personality with the ability to carry a good conversation
* Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stand, twist, or reach
* Ability to walk and/or stand for the majority of each shift
