Lift, carry, or transfer up to 25 lbs., such as resident assistance aids or supplies, as needed for daily care. Respond quickly in emergencies, including running short distances or assisting with resident transfers, to ensure safety. Use a computer or tablet for documentation and care plan updates for up to 1 hour at a time. North County Serenity House provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders. Peer Specialist Overnight are responsible for maintaining and assessing the safety and security of the program and residents throughout the night while providing a supportive treatment environment. Through effective communication, Peer Specialist Overnight relay relevant information to other members of the interdisciplinary team and performs crisis intervention as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Must possess basic computer skills Ability to provide assistance with personal care and transfer an individual who may have little to no weight bearing skills Ability to push people who use wheelchairs on a variety of terrain and support people with other mobility needs as required Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing; Ability to interpret and carry out verbal and written instruction Must be able to work in a team environment, practicing collaboration and cooperation; Ability to be solution-oriented and creative Must adhere to ethical practices and the core values of ESSC Ability to tolerate an outdoor work environment inclusive of a variety of weather conditions Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals and/or Service requirements May be required to utilize personal vehicle to transport individuals locally, depending on service design and location; maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration; must have a minimum of 3 years' driving experience Carrying/Lifting: Frequent / 0-30 lbs. Standing: Frequent / Up to 5 hours per day Sitting: Occasional / Up to 3 hours per day Walking: Frequent / Up to 5 hours per day Repetitive Motion/Activity: Frequent (bend, twist, stoop, reach, pull, kneel, push wheelchairs in a variety of terrain) Visual Acuity: Close distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Travel: Frequent Environmental Exposure: Constant exposure to unpleasant or hazardous conditions (noise, heat, dust, bio fluids, etc.), indoor and outdoor work environment
