KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. About the Position: Provide direct service and support to the people who live in Unit 1 at KNI so they can achieve personal growth and well-being, realize choice, attain full inclusion, and celebrate their individuality. Initial review of candidates will begin October 9, 2025. Periodic review of candidates will occur until November 9, 2025. Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision; provides crisis interventions, including physical intervention and restraint to ensure the safety of individuals; monitors and/or administers medication as prescribed; monitors and documents mental and physical condition of individuals. Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals; assists individual and family members to identify strategies or treatment options and participates in the development and modification of plans to regain ability to make independent choices and promote coping skills; develops and maintains a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers, serving as the main point of contact. Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination; completes documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion. Transports individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work. Current schedule available: SUN MON TUES WED THUR FRI SAT HRS 3p-12a 10a-10p 21 11am-11pm 3p-12a 21 Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required and one year of related experience working in a human services field is preferred. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. This position requires performance of various physical components at defined standards for the safety of employees and individuals served. Candidate must be able to successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background screenings, which includes KDADS required screenings and registry checks, and a post offer TB test. This position will require the use of a personal vehicle to transport clients. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.
