Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional Floater is responsible for fostering patient independence by providing direct daily support, education and transportation to clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities under the supervision of the Residential Services Director and in accordance with Individual Service Plans and physician orders in a supported living home or community-based setting. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Providing directcare to consumers served by the agency.
Providing emotional support to consumers and their families.
Following directions of the RSD to meet the consumer's service needs.
Preparing healthy, well balanced meals as well as specific physician-ordered diets.
Completing the required number of in-service hours each year to maintain active status.
Documenting the services provided as well as turning in paper work within specified time frames.
Providing homemaker services if specified in the consumer's Individual Service Plan (ISP).
Demonstrating reliability, timeliness, and responsibility while caring for consumers.
Flexibility in scheduling when consumer's needs unexpectedly change.
Be available anytime to cover shifts when contacted.
Ability to work in challenging environments without physical limitations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education
High School diploma or GED
Texas Driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation
One-year prior experience working in a group home setting with developmentally, intellectually and/or physically disabled individuals preferred.
Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with special client needs.
Demonstrated organizational and decision-making skills; ability to document daily client activities and observations in a timely, concise, thorough and accurate manner; or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills.
Knowledge of Universal Precautions, First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge of proper personal hygiene practices

The Residential Care Specialist PRN will be the front-line worker responsible for day-to-day operations of the milieu. These visits could include feeding the pets, walking dogs, playing with dogs inside or outside to encourage exercise and companionship; feeding cats, cleaning litter boxes and tidying the surrounding area. The pet sitter will sometimes have house sitting duties as well which may include turning on lights, opening curtains and blinds, retrieving mail and watering plants.
Qualifications
You must love pets, really love pets, and enjoy caring for them. Care of the pets in your charge are crucial. We are seeking individuals of integrity, quality, dependability, reliability, and professionalism. We HIGHLY prefer a person with documented experience such as with a Veterinary clinic, kennel, pet store, vocational school or similar.
Must love animals (and not allergic to them)
A valid TX driver's license
Must drive your own car with proof of valid TX insurance
Must be able to drive in the dark and in inclement weather
Must be able to arrive to jobs in a timely manner, read maps and/or GPS without difficulty
Clean up dog, cat and other pet waste (Note: Pregnant women should not handle cat litter boxes as it may be harmful to the fetus)
Must be able to walk up to 2 consecutive miles without discomfort or pain
Must be able to bend at the knees, bend over and/or twist at the waist without discomfort or pain
Must be able to use their hands, raise arms up and over the head without discomfort or pain
Should be able to lift up to 40 pounds without discomfort or pain
Must understand, speak, read and write fluent English
A working smart phone (like an iPhone) with access to the internet with or without wifi
Ability to pass a security clearance and background check
Ability to write a note to the client explaining the activities of the pet visit.

The Residential Care Specialist are the front-line workers responsible for day-to-day operations of the milieu. The Residential Care Specialist is also responsible for the safety and well-being of the children and youth assigned to their care, as well as the coordination and implementation of the interventions and activities designed to promote growth and a stable environment as they move through the program toward independent living.
Primary Responsibilities:
Implement the therapeutic program as designed for children and youth in care in a consistent manner and provides logical and rational interventions as needed to ensure their safety and wellbeing; act as charge person in the absence of a shift supervisor or as assigned.
Assist in the planning and implementation of activities; actively participate in those activities with the children and youth as directed.
Provide education and adequate supplies for proper hygiene habits and social skills.
Assist in the development of therapeutic relationships while encouraging personal growth of children and youth in care toward independence through role modeling and approved therapeutic interventions.
Keep informed of the needs of children and youth in care to be able to provide consistency in programming; participate in the exchange of information at each shift change.
Complete all assigned written paperwork, including daily progress notes, shift logs, Incident Report and Restraint Forms and other communications prior to shift.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid Texas Drive License.
Must be 21 years of age.
Certification in First Aid and CPR (May be obtained upon hire)
Must participate in behavior management and physical restraint training once hired.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant experience working with children and/or youth.
Two (2) years' experience working with at risk youth.
Experience working with electronic health records.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient with basic computer skills.
Exhibit professionalism and sound ethical practices.
