    Job Summary and Responsibilities Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Mobile Medicine APP in the beautiful Puget Sound Region of Washington State. Job Summary: This unique role will support a partnership between Fire Department Community Assistance, Referral, and Education Service (CARES) program and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to proactively visit and treat individuals in the field. The CARES unit is a multidisciplinary team aiming to prevent crises by being proactive in the field. Depending on the fire department, it is staffed by a combination of: a) Firefighter/EMT trained in crisis intervention b) Social worker c) Substance use disorder professional The APP would attend to patients referred by CARES that have a need for a basic, non-emergency level of medical care that can be provided in their home rather than in a hospital or clinic setting.The APP may also join the CARES team to address patient medical needs in tandem with social services provided by the other CARES team members. The anticipated scope of work for patient treatments may include but is not limited to cold & flu, pneumonia, sprains, headaches, basic substance abuse support, assisting the unhoused, wound care, prescription refills, and other medical needs typically attended to in the urgent care setting. The goal of the APPs efforts is to expand access to care by meeting patients where they are. In collaboration with CARES, they can identify and remove barriers currently impeding community members access to routine and preventive medical care. While initial treatments would take place in the field, the ultimate goal would be to connect patients to the most appropriate level of care offered in the community. The APP may also serve as a temporary bridge in care for patients awaiting appointments with their primary care provider. The APP will provide similar in field services for VMFH patients who frequently utilize emergency department services and for recently discharged patients with a higher risk for readmission. Essential Duties: Interview and examine patients to determine a diagnosis. Prepare patients for routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, etc.). Order tests to ascertain the nature and extent of illnesses and injuries. Prescribe medications and suggest lifestyle changes to remedy medical problems. Provide therapeutic treatments; disinfect/stitch wounds and set bones. Administer immunizations. Make house calls to treat and follow-up with patients. Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for patients. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations; comply strictly with medical care regulations. Protect patients and Fire Department employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

IDENTIFYING INFORMATION Job Title: Classification Level: Special Education Paraeducator II E-2 Reports to: Working Title: Building Administrator Life Skills Special Education Preschool Functional Academics SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT Job incumbents work under general direction of the building administrator and under specific direction of the classroom teacher. The primary purpose of this job is to assist the teacher with implementation of an educational program for special education students by providing instruction as assigned, behavior management, preparation of classroom materials, and primary care of life skills students such as lifting, toileting, washing and feeding. Assignment may be at the elementary or secondary level. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Depending upon the needs of the students and the direction given by the special education teacher, any or all of the following essential functions may be applicable to the job assignment. * Assists with IEP preparation at the direction of the classroom teacher. Monitors timelines for due process with re-evaluations and IEP's under the guidance of the special education teacher. * Assists with preparation for and implementation of behavior management techniques, educational and vocational instruction and vocational placement programs. * Instructs students in large or small groups or one-to-one as assigned by and under the direction of the special education teacher. * Assists students with hygiene and personal needs, such as lifting, toileting, washing and feeding. May prepare and give intervention and medication, or conduct certain medical treatments following training by, and under the direction of, licensed nursing staff. Such treatments may include, but are not limited to: catheterization, nasogastric feedings, suctioning, supervision of a student self-administering glucose checks or insulin injections, seizure management, individualized emergency medical plans, etc. * Administers or assists special education teacher with administration of assessment instruments. * Prepares materials for use by student, teacher and parents; types, hand draws, reproduces and collates. * Maintains class during special education teacher's absence. Supervises students during lunch, recess, on and off the bus, assembly, and to other building locations. * Uses personal computer for data entry and to produce correspondence and reports; operates typewriter, copier, FAX and other office machines. * Under the direction of the special education teacher, maintains students records and files such as FTE count, month end reports, schedules, attendance records, credits earned and required classes and credits for graduation. May monitor three (3) year evaluations for state compliance. * May transport and/or accompany students on field trips and other outings. * May assist with profile development for education and vocation planning. * May work with high risk students who display significant behavior concerns as part of their disability who display significant behavior concerns as part of their disability. * Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience * High school diploma or it's recognized equivalent (GED) and; two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter hours); or an associate's degree (or higher); or a passing score on a state or local assessment. * Three (3) years of successful work experience with special education students. * Completion of the Fourteen (14) Special Education Core Competencies or obtain within the first 90 days from date of hire. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Knowledge of the following: * Classroom/behavior management techniques * Special Education terminology * Lifting, toileting and feeding techniques * Restraint techniques * Verbal de-escalation * Ability to work independently and to independently learn operations, procedures. processes and uses of equipment. * Ability to exercise sound judgment including the handling of confidential matters. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and knowledge of proper lifting techniques. * Ability to communicate and interact clearly, concisely, courteous and respectfully with students, parents, guardians, volunteers, teachers and other staff in a diverse environment. * Ability to adjust to new and different working conditions. * May require personal vehicle and proof of automobile insurance and Type II Driver's License. * Ability to learn and implement medical intervention techniques under the direction of a knowledgeable professional. Certification and Licenses Fingerprinting and Background check. Valid Washington State Driver's License and proof of insurance may be required. Type II Driver's License may be required. First Aid and CPR Card. Paras are required to complete the district provided Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) as outlined by the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB).
