JOB SUMMARY Performs basic animal care duties, including cleaning cages and kennels, laundry, dishes, feeding, and monitoring for illness. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One (1) year of experience in a customer service environment. Experience working with small domestic animals, livestock, and exotic animals in a professional setting is preferred. Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Cleans, disinfects, and maintains kennels, cages, animal holding areas, clinic, outside runs, laundry, and dishes. Maintains and restocks supplies. Monitors animals for signs of illness or unusual behavior. Provides basic first aid, administers medications, ensures an appropriate amount of food and water, and grooms as directed. Works with databases to enter and retrieve complex records regarding animals, owners, violations and citations, referrals, and general information. Prepares and updates a variety of reports. Assists customers in resolving animal-related issues such as adoptions, lost pets, license renewals and sales, impounds, relinquishments, fee assessments, vaccination/sterilization, animal ordinances, and similar issues. Responds to irate, difficult, and distressed customers. Elevates calls/inquiries to supervisor when appropriate. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS All Animal Services employees work in the animal shelter where temperamental and dangerous animals are housed, and should expect to come into contact with animals that may bite, kick, or scratch on a regular basis. Employees are regularly exposed to loud noises, unpleasant odors, chemicals, cleaning agents, and soaps. Employees are regularly exposed to animals that may be diseased, as well as fur, pet dander, and zoonotic diseases. Employees lift, carry, push and pull loads up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis and stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day. Employees routinely bend, kneel, and stand for a long period of time IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION Maybe required to work weekends, holidays as needed. Our Critical Care APPs care for pediatric patients (newborn to early adulthood) in both pediatric intensive care and cardiovascular intensive care units. As the quaternary care center for pediatric care in the Intermountain West, we see a wide variety of the most severely ill and injured patients, with referrals reaching us often from as far away as Alaska. Our APPs work in a collaborative nature with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, while having opportunity to work at the top of their scope of licensure - participating in formulation of plans of care, conducting procedures such as ECMO, intubations, setting chest tubes, placement of mechanical circulatory support devices, among others. + As our unit is open 24/7, our APPs work a rotating schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays, generally taken in 12-hour shifts. + During respiratory season, additional shifts & income may be available to the provider, dependent on patient volumes & department needs. + APP will be eligible for shift differentials ranging from 10-50% when working evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, or extra shifts. + Relocation assistance available. **How we'll support you:** We care about your well-being, which is why we provide our caregivers a generous benefits package.
