Part Time Resident Aide needed for 6p-10p
The Resident Aide is responsible for giving basic care to residents, including physical, social and environmental needs. He/she shall be prepared to give resident care from prior experience, other training programs and/or in-service education programs provided by the facility. He/she shall work under the direction of the nurse.
Essential Functions:
Accurately measure and record information such as vitals, height, weight, blood sugars and other information as instructed.
Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail care, oral hygiene, use of adaptive devices as needed, ambulating, positioning, turning and transferring residents into and out of bed, chairs, showers, wheelchairs, etc. keeping with resident safety needs.
Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions, and toileting programs; performs peri-care as needed.
Answer call lights promptly and ensure call lights are within reach of residents.
Participate in receiving nursing report, giving feedback to nurses on resident needs or changes in conditions, follow plan of care, explain procedures to residents before delivering care, honor resident preferences, use supplies economically and report resident supply needs timely to charge nurse for re-ordering. Determine resident needs and informs appropriate staff if unable to meet the need.
Ensure residents present a neat and clean appearance. Ensure resident clothing is clean and appropriate. Change bed linens as scheduled, using proper linen handling techniques in making and/or changing beds (occupied and unoccupied) and following infection control protocols. Collect soiled laundry/linen, wash, dry, fold and return to resident room timely. Complete laundry charges accurately.
Assist residents in preparation for and transporting to appointments, activities, social programs and dining areas for meals. Lead activities as assigned. Deliver mail and packages to residents.
Serve meals and snacks, striving for an excellent dining experience for the residents. Ensure supplements are given to residents as ordered by physician. Encourage residents to drink water. Set dining room tables for meals. Ensure residents are served meal consistency as ordered, report any problems with meal consumption, likes or dislikes and special preferences with the dietician and/or charge nurse.
Clean the dining room (tables, chairs, floors, etc.) and bus the tables, put away supplies and remove trash. Ensure kitchen is stocked with needed supplies for the residents, label and date food stored in the kitchen per policy, follow cleaning schedule, perform a variety of general cleaning activities including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping. Collect and dispose of garbage.
All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED preferred must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
Must have the ability to read labels and follow instructions relative to safe use of handling cleaning materials; must have the ability to operate a variety of equipment.
Previous experience in working with the elderly is preferred, but not required.
Basic first aid training is necessary within the first two weeks of employment.
Resident Aides must learn and be familiar with Residents' Rights.
