    About the Company The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (CC APP) team at UCSF provides expert care in the adult intensive care units at UCSF Health. The CC APPs are an element of the interdisciplinary critical care team that includes attending physicians, physicians in training, pharmacists, registered nurses, rehabilitation therapists, and UCSF students. The CC APPs provide care in all of the adult intensive care units including Cardiac, Neurologic, Medical, and Surgical intensive care units. These units provide care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, organ transplantation, thoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgical surgery, general surgery, or patients requiring complex medical management. The CC APP team collaborates with the UCSF School of Nursing and supports the UCSF Surgical and Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship. The CC APP group is active in various quality improvement, cost reduction, and professional development projects. About the Role The adult Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor supervises, coordinates, and administers the practice of advanced practice professionals (APP), including nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Ensures quality of care and serves as a role model, expert clinician, and mentor. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. The adult Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor provides leadership to advanced practice providers in adult critical care and supports the adult Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Manager. The primary managerial responsibility of the supervisor is to provide professional support in the Critical Care APP department. The primary clinical responsibility is to provide expert level critical care clinical services to patients and families in the adult intensive care units at UCSF Health. Responsibilities Administrative Staff Development Education Leadership The primary responsibility of the adult Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor is the direct application of expertise in the adult intensive care units at UCSF Health within the divisions of Critical Care Medicine. The individual will assume full responsibility for adult Critical Care APP clinical services in the absence of the manager. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Qualifications Min 1 year experience in a supervisor, or leadership role. 4-6 years of recent experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in adult critical care. Responsible for understanding and communicating an advanced knowledge of national, state, and local educational and legislative issues affecting advanced practice providers. Demonstrated knowledge of state and national regulatory requirements. Ability to gather clinical information, develop differential diagnoses, and create problem lists independently. Competent to direct patient management and lead care team. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and to manage the complex workflow and competing priorities involved with providing quality care as an Advanced Practitioner. Solid knowledge of the clinical and operational issues for nurse practitioners performing advanced-practice nursing within departments and specialty areas, including evaluation, testing, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as patient-care concepts, policies, outcomes measurement, quality standards, ethics issues, quality improvement, and continuing staff education and professional development. Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters. Required Skills Related healthcare management or Nurse Practitioner III or Senior Physician Assistant experience in a highly matrixed healthcare organization. Knowledge of clinical and administrative software and specialized applications and data management systems used by advanced practice providers in providing advanced-practice care, research, documentation, and employee supervision. Preferred Skills For PA candidates: Completion of a recognized graduate master's degree program as a physician assistant. Doctorate Degree. Pay range and compensation package The salary range for this position is $138,400 - $335,800 (Annual Rate). The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Assist in establishing and maintaining social connections with others in the community. Coordinates and provides instruction to promote skill development and independence (in some situations with providing personal care), and other educational topics to individuals served (both individually and in groups). Completes monthly trainings within the provided timeframe. Provides shadowing opportunities for new staff (on the job training). Assists with curriculum development, transportation optimization and new hire mentorship DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT SERVICE PLANS Ensure individual's personal choice is at the forefront of service plan delivery. Participate in developing and implementing instructional and behavioral plans. Conduct interviews and assessments in preparation for service plan development. Schedule, coordinate, and participate in team planning meetings as requested. Plan meaningful and engaging community access schedule on a weekly basis with person-served input. Enters community access information per department requirements. Suggests/provides additions and updates to the Community Resource App. KEEP RECORDS AND WRITE REPORTS Records data relative to tasks (BI information platforms; Therap/ISP data, ADP, TripLog, etc). Time and Attendance records (ADP) - Responsible for daily punches for all shifts/applicable breaks and daily review of timecards/corrections/edits (notes). ADP for Persons Served - Responsible for all data entered daily (volunteer/paid work/community access) - If unable to complete same day will enter first thing next shift. Maintain individual progress records; write and submit accurate reports as per procedures. Writes General Event Reports (GER). Company email must be checked during each shift. Email responses are expected within 24 hours or at your next scheduled shift (for emails where you are the only recipient). Text message correspondence must be replied to during your shift. Google Calendars/Daily Schedule - All staff must ensure either their Google Calendar or their daily schedule is reflective of all activities during working hours. DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS Develop and maintain effective relationships with persons served, peers, supervisors, and other staff, affiliated agency staff, and members of the community. Assist individuals in establishing and maintaining social connections with persons of their choosing, with a focus on reducing relationships with paid supports. Attend, actively engage, and participate in weekly staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant meetings. Mentors new hires for the first 60 days. Leads large class/community group facilitation. TRANSPORTATION OF PERSONS SERVED Transport persons served as needed to and from community activities/appointments/errands, etc. This may be in a personal vehicle, BI vehicle, or riding public transportation. Follow all inspection/cleanliness of vehicle requirements before/after each use. Ensure safe entry and exit protocols, as well as ensure the safety of individuals while in a moving vehicle (i.e., tie-downs and seatbelts). Triplog application (with Magic Trip enabled) must be used for all personal vehicle and fleet mileage driven during your scheduled work day. Trips must be reviewed, corrected, and submitted daily or at the start of the next shift. Applicable inspections performed via Fleetio application prior to usage of any BI vehicle at any time. OTHER Assist with the setup of various program spaces for activities (chairs, tables, etc.). All BI working hours should be performed at a BI location, in the individual's home, or at a community site with the individual. Exceptions need to be pre-approved by your supervisor. Provide support as a Direct Support Professional working in any BI program, including but not limited to providing in-home care, transportation, and in-community services for persons served.
