As a Residential Counselor, you will:
· help create a supportive, homelike environment for the individuals in our residence;· assist program participants in making plans to meet their specific recovery goals;· restore and teach daily living skills; and· engage participants in meaningful activity in the house and in the community;· write daily shift notes and other communications.
You’re someone who has:
· a high school diploma or GED (college would be an added plus);· basic computer skills;· a driver’s license and acceptable driving record, since you’ll be driving residents to various appointments and events;· the physical ability to attend to residents’ safety needs; · above all, the kind of positive energy, patience, and compassion needed to motivate others;· background check (CORI).
Pay & Benefits:
We offer a wage of $15.50/hour—**
plus a bonus of $1.50/hr for every hour worked until 12/31/22

- Initial and ongoing screening of resident and resident property in accordance with unit procedures.
- Documenting and charting all aspects of resident's progress through the use of plans, progress notes and other agency forms and tools.
- Documenting, facilitating and supervising daily group formats.
- Supervising clients in self-medication (under supervision).
- Participating in both individual and group supervision.
- Communicating all pertinent information, incidents and emergencies using the appropriate system including SAC communication log, incident reports and 24 hour on call supervisor.
- Providing crisis intervention and follow up including documentation of the incident, accident and/or elopement reports.
- Overall supervision and management of client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.

Day in the Life of a Direct Care Worker
The Direct Care Worker is responsible for providing a therapeutic atmosphere within the dorm or group home setting. This integral and rewarding role provides structure, safety, and care to severely traumatized children who are often victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse.
- The Direct Care Worker will monitor and interact with our kids during meals, while they do their chores and homework, during free time, and at bedtime, providing a consistent and warm environment they desperately need.
- The Direct Care Worker may dispense medications as necessary, keep accurate documentation, and attend weekly/monthly meetings.
- The Direct Care Worker functions as a conscientious team member in cooperation with other staff members and under the supervision of a Program Supervisor to assist the kids in building positive coping strategies, independent living skills, and healthy relationships.
- The applicant must have the following abilities: to work as a team member, perform basic writing, communications, and computer skills, function as a group leader and role model in relation to troubled youth, and respond appropriately to the emotional and physical needs of adolescents within a structured group setting.
