Individuals assigned to this position are responsible for but not limited to clerical/receptionist/cashier, weight room attendant, and offsite gym monitor duties. This position is responsible for accepting payments from customers and making sure participants comply with the usage rules relative to using the Recreation Center, and off-site facilities. The position also requires inspecting/cleaning of the cardio/weight room equipment, takes attendance both at the Recreation Center and off-site. The position requires excellent customer service skills. The position requires the ability to work nights and weekends as scheduled. The position is within the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, and works under the direction of the Customer Service Supervisor. Essential Functions Includes but is not limited to such essential functions as listed below: * Provide information to the public on the phone or in person about recreation activities and programs, policies and procedures. * Process registrations for recreation activities; process refunds and registration changes, when necessary. * Process reservations for park, pool and room facility rentals. * Receipt fees from revenue producing programs, operate the point of sale cash register, and balance funds receipted at completion of shift. * Assist with room set up and take down, moving chairs and tables; insure proper and orderly conduct of customers in their use of the facilities. * Perform data entry and miscellaneous clerical and computer functions. * Notify Customer Service Supervisor when facility maintenance is required. * Observe customers use of the facilities and ensure they comply with usage rules relative to using the weight room/cardio space and equipment. * Clean equipment per scheduling. * Takes attendance and ensures class registrations at either the Recreation Center or offsite facilities. * Report any accidents or incidents to Customer Service Supervisor immediately, and notify 911, if necessary * Work off site monitoring Department affiliated activities. * Work nights and weekends as scheduled. Minimum Qualifications At least six (6) months' work experience with clerical, cash handling, customer service, and using cardio/weight equipment preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. Must have current First Aid and CPR certifications, or be able to obtain them within one month of hire. Must also pass the Washington State Patrol background and a credit check.
