Behavioral Development: Serves as a role model and mentor, demonstrating desired behaviors and coaching by using approved techniques and strategies; in accordance with the ISP may use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure everyone's safety. Must be able to work as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes for the client and programs.
Operational Support: Maintains cleanliness of the program area and/or home by performing housekeeping duties such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, maintaining cleanliness of the program vehicle, basic maintenance of the outside house appearance; completes tasks beyond the clients' abilities, follows all policies & procedures for handling money.

Provide a clean facility. Ensure that the facility is homelike and promote independence for the residents so that they will learn the skills to keep a clean home as well. It is your duty to ensure that residents have a clean and hazard free environment, please be aware of fire hazards in residents rooms. You will be required to assist and encourage residents to keep their personal living spaces clean in the event that they are unable or unwilling to do so themselves.
Provide a professional attitude at all times towards residents, resident guests/family members, guardians, care managers, supervisors and fellow Abilities, Inc. employees. Show respect and consistency with program structure.
Finish all tasks outlined by supervisors.
Prepare meals consistent with the posted menu in the facility, and ensure sanitary methods are followed. Prepare special diets as ordered by residents physician. Grocery shopping and menu planning may be required. Encourage resident participation with all menu planning and meal preparation.
Provide Personal Care Services as outlined in the residents Individual Service Plan (ISP). This may include lifting and transferring residents that would require your ability to use gait belts, adaptive equipment, and lifting up to 100 pounds. Please read and follow Abilities, Inc. Limited Lift Policy.
Plan and participate in community and in-facility activities. An activity calendar will be posted in the facility at all times.
Orientate yourself to Evacuation Procedures, Grievance Procedures, Program Statements, (These are provided in the facility on a designated wall) along with all Policy and Procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Attend all scheduled shifts and staff meetings. You will be expected to follow Abilities, Inc. Attendance policy (704) and take responsibility for your shifts.
Communicate comprehensive and accurate reports through verbal and written skills. You will be required to use electronic charting and must be able to use a computer with some basic knowledge.
Provide safe transportation for residents as delegated by your direct supervisor to work, community activities provided by the facility, personal care shopping/grocery shopping, to Adult Day Care services and to doctors appointments.
Administer/monitor medications according to orders prescribed by Residents physician. Obtain knowledge of possible side effects and interactions the medications may have. This can be assessed through Extended Care Professional (ECP), Abilities, Inc. electronic charting for all medication administration and resident charting. You will also be responsible for shift to shift Schedule 2 medication counts, as an approved medication passer/monitor.
Familiarize yourself to the State Requirements outlined in DHS 88 and DHS 83. There will be provided copies at the facility for you to review.

We are looking to hire a part-time DSP for our Adult Day Center in Waukesha to work Mondays - Thursdays around 32 hours per week from 7:30 PM - 3:30 PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) include the following:
• Interacts with participants in a respectful, age-appropriate, and culturally-appropriate manner by honoring participant preferences and requests, in conjunction with behavior plans and care information.
• Works cooperatively with Adult Day Care Supervisor to provide interesting and stimulating program activities that are appropriate for most participants, which include community outings (i.e., planning, accompanying, transporting), sports, recreation, exercise, and educational enrichment.
• Supports participants with ADLs (toileting, bathing, ambulating, transfers, feeding, changing clothes, etc.).
• Cleans up spills/bodily fluids using appropriate infection control procedures.
• Reports all possible cases of illness to Adult Day Care Supervisor, and provides assistance to participants that become ill while at the center.
• Ensures the safety of each participant by monitoring activities, maintaining a sanitary, clutter-free environment, and participating in safety training and emergency drills.
• Reports suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation of participants immediately per program and agency policies and procedures.
• Prepares, serves, and oversees feeding activities for daily snacks and lunches.
• Maintains program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring that they are clean/disinfected stocked/replenished, and in good working order daily.
• Employs assistive equipment and practices throughout the day when transporting, lifting, and working with participants.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred
Minimum 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges
Must complete 40 hours of Behavioral Tech online training within 4 months of hire
Required Skills & Attributes:
Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergency and stressful situations.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care.
Ability to effectively implement approved physical intervention techniques.
Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
Willingness to work with residents in a variety of settings, including community outings

Provide direct support assistance to the person served.
Assist person served with daily living activities (including, but not limited to bathing, dressing, and grooming)
Complete mandatory online training modules
Help individuals develop and maintain independent living skills
Provide transportation to appointments and community activities
Administer medication and monitor health conditions
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and other team members
Schedule: 2:30-10pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday nights and 5-10pm every-other Sunday
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid driver's license, if driving is required for the position
No more than two minor moving violations in the past 3 years
No major violations (DUI, Careless, Reckless, Serious Speed, Driving While License Suspended, etc) in the past 5 years
Ability to pass a background check
