Reporting directly to the Resident Services Director (RSD) or Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP), the DirectSupportProfessional (DSP) is responsible for participating as a member of the facility team to ensure safe and effective residential facilities. The DSP provides directsupport, positive direction and assistance to the CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) and/or ICF (Intermediate Care Facility) residents in accordance with program policies and procedures, assisting individuals to be as independent as possible. The DSP at Progressive Housing, Inc. is adaptable, mission oriented, goal driven, highly organized, efficient, a positive role model, and exercises good judgment and decision making skills.
Starting Pay: $20.50 per hour
Responsibilities:
Be familiar and comply with current state and federal rules and regulations and perform all assigned tasks in accordance with facility policy and procedures
Ensure that individuals exercise their rights and are treated with dignity and respect
Respect and maintain confidentiality of all individuals' personal information
Responsible for the implementation and documentation of individual goals and objectives
Be familiar with emergency behavior management techniques as set forth by Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), standard precautions and infection control techniques, the proper placement and use of emergency equipment and procedures, and good body mechanics to maintain a clean, safe, positive and secure environment at all times.
Assist individuals with their activities of daily living (ADL) while promoting independence which may include, but not limited to, household chores, recreational activities, physical fitness activities, grooming and dressing, and money management
Know the whereabouts of individuals you are directly responsible for at all times
Attend Individual Service Plans (ISPs) meetings and assist in the development of the program plan while working closely with each individual to identify supports that will improve the quality of life and ensuring positive outcomes
Attend in-service training as required to continue skill development and complete paperwork, as necessary, to meet PHI, federal, and state regulatory requirements
Assist in the orientation and training of new employees
Assist with general housekeeping (cleaning, laundry, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, etc.) while promoting involvement of the individual
Prepare meals, with the assistance of individuals, according to standardized recipes and the designated menu
Prepare and assist individuals on outings, shopping trips, vacations, home visits and appointments by providing transportation, guidance, and support where needed with guardian approval
Observe for and report medical concerns and accidents / incidents immediately to the RSD/QIDP and Nurse
Administer medications and take and record vitals while utilizing nurse protocols as directed
Report any and all allegations of individual abuse or neglect that is reported to or witnessed to the RSD/QIDP and Office of Inspector General (OIG)
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Lifelong Access is seeking DirectSupportProfessionals (DSPs) to work in our Supported Living program. DSPs provide the necessary supports and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) where they live and work. Direct Service Professionals (DSPs) are an integral part of life in the community for individuals with IDD, working directly with individuals to provide support. DSPs will follow each individual's Person Center Plan (PCP) and Implementation Strategy for all supports provided. DSPs provide assistance with services meant to increase independence and overall life fulfillment, such as daily living activities including personal care, household tasks, transportation, and skill building.
Pay: $18.35/hour (plus $0.50/hour pay increase once med authorization training is completed)

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, with relevant work and/or volunteering experience preferred
Attention to detail, especially when adhering to specific protocols and rules while carefully following instructions to care for the needs of the individual supported
Must demonstrate a high level of Integrity to ensure individuals supported to feel safe, comfortable, and treated with dignity when tending to personal activities such as bathing assistance and toileting
Must demonstrate a high level of trustworthiness and reliability
Strong interpersonal skills when working with co-workers and supported individuals, including demonstrating compassion and sensitivity to a supported individual's emotional needs when they are in extreme distress or pain
Must either possess CPR and First Aid certification or be willing and able to complete certification
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid Illinois driver's license with safe driving record

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; and sit. The employee will also frequently need to converse with adults - some who might be difficult to understand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, push, pull, reach, and walk for periods of time. Must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.
The working environment for this job is a changing one that adjusts to the needs of the individuals supported. The environment may at times be fast paced with interruptions, distractions, and deadlines. DSPs need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: The DirectSupport Person is responsible for providing training and supervision to the residents and maintaining a clean and sanitary home-like environment.
Responsibilities are to be completed in accordance with CWTC's mission, policies, and in a manner that supports individuals with disabilities. All employees are required to attend mandated training sessions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist or perform programming to help residents with disabilities obtain Discovery Plan goals
Assist residents with maintaining personal hygiene by assisting with bathing, brushing hair and teeth or other self-care needs.
Changing and washing soiled linens and/or clothing and assisting with laundry as needed
Participate on activities with residents including transportation of residents
Assist residents with mobility as needed
Assist with the preparation of or prepare meals for residents
Assist residents in maintaining a safe and sanitary bedroom and/or bathroom including making beds, putting personal items away and keeping floors clean and free of tripping hazards
Teach daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and shopping.

Work assignments and schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
