Collaborate with the HCBS Supervisor and HCBS Programmer to develop goals for the individual served.
Provide services to individuals based on their unique goals and behavioral care plan. This includes:
Teaching individuals how to accomplish their goal (rather than completing a task for them).
Using behavioral strategies that support individuals and address any behaviors that do not lead to their success.
Motivate and encourage individuals to participate in their behavioral care plans and reach their goals.
Participate in recreational, community, and social activities with those you serve, honoring the choices of the individual.
Display and understanding of when it is appropriate to apply rights-restrictions, only as determined by the interdisciplinary team and when indicated in the individuals behavioral care plan.

Provide safe environments and instruction to individuals served regarding the practices that will help them reach their goals.
Provide care to individuals that help them present their best selves to the community. This may include helping with hygienic needs, choosing appropriate clothing, administering medication, and ensuring they have food options suitable for their dietary needs.
Be an advocate for individuals receiving services to have as much control over their own lives as possible. All individuals should be treated with respect and should feel empowered to live their life as independently as physically possible.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Stay informed of, and follow, regulations and procedures for each services provided

The part time Direct Service Professional is responsible for supporting a nurturing, loving, safe, and educational space for school age children of all abilities. Provide direct support and positive direction in all daily living skills to individuals served, including but not limited to, nutrition, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, simple household repairs, personal hygiene, health care, safety, communication, interpersonal relations, mobility, financial assistance, aid in learning the skill of properly taking medication (s), and community integration.
Assist individuals served to understand and follow their physician's orders regarding diets, repositioning, and range of motion, etc.
Maintain and submit all required documentation daily (e.g., timecards, expense reports, service documentation, and other required daily paperwork).
Provide incidental transportation in privately owned vehicle, or by agency owned vehicle, for individuals served as needed. This may include transporting to and from Day Programming, Doctor Appointments, etc.... This may occur within City of Clinton, Clinton County or regionally such as Davenport or Iowa City. Conditions of driving may be during the day, night, and various weather conditions.
Communicate regularly with Supervisor, Coordinator and stakeholders as needed regarding individual's progress, issues and concerns.
Possess the ability to organize, to mediate, to be creative, to multitask, and to be empathetic and willing to learn appropriate interventions. This includes the implementation of personal plans, completion of assessments and daily documentation.
Ability to perform tasks to include standing, walking, running, listening and smelling. Must have full range of body motion, including handling and lifting individuals served.
