Role of DirectSupport Providers
Provide one-on-one directsupport which may include job training, transportation, assistance with activities of daily living, and participation in recreational activities.

Provide support to complete work or business activities including supports for individuals who own their own business
Training and support to increase or maintain self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills to participate in own community
Develop/maintain or enhance independent functioning skills in the areas of sensory-motor, cognition, personal grooming, hygiene and other daily living and social skills
We are currently seeking a Direct Service Provider for the following opportunity:
Part-time position for community outing companion to special needs adult based in Somerville, 15 hours per week, with some flexibility. Starting compensation is $25-27 per hour, estimating 15-18 hours per week. Experience with neurodivergent and physical disabilities is important. We are seeking someone who is patient, resourceful, and creative. A car is a must. Specific training will be provided.
Job duties will include:
· Accessing the community, including volunteer positions
· Skills based training continuation
· Attending activities and providing support
Skills: beyond having first aid and cpr, the person must be patient, creative, have ability to physically assist, at least two years of experience, and have a suitable vehicle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Instruct, supervise and evaluate individuals in all areas of community living as outlined in each support plan and record data on all instructional programs.
Implement all behavior plan interventions as assigned. These behavioral interventions may include physical restraint.
Maintain valid Driver's License and provide transportation as required by program.
Assist individuals in scheduling and attending medical appointments and appropriately document. This may include covering shifts off-site, any hospital stays (i.e., Boston).
Assist and support individuals as needed with scheduling and attending social and leisure activities such as: family gatherings, religious celebrations, community events, and social gatherings.
Maintain residence and yard in clean, orderly condition as outlined by Residential Manager. This may include: vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors, bathrooms, laundry and keeping lawn clear of trash and debris. Also responsible for keeping steps, walks, paths and ramps clear.
Actively assist and support individuals as needed with personal care responsibilities, may include: diet, exercise, meal preparation, bathing, shaving, dressing, toileting etc.
Assist and support individuals as needed with physical direct care, may include: physical or mechanical transfer of individuals from wheelchairs to van, chair, or shower, etc.
Adhere to all established lines of communication, dress in a professional manner and represent a positive and proactive attitude with coworkers, families and referral agencies.
Responsible for writing reports, including daily shift reports, and other required documentation utilizing professional and appropriate documentation skills.
Administer medications, as required, in accordance with medication administration procedure.
Attend all required meetings and adhere to all program routines and the schedules and needs of individuals under supervision.
Participate in on-the-job training and provide coaching to new co-workers as directed.
Adhere to agency safety standards.
Perform additional duties, or substitute for others as required, including other programs.
Adhere to all RTR policies and procedures.
Develop and provide all services in accordance with RTR's philosophies including staff and Board beliefs
