ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
Provides personal care for residents which may include assistance with eating, personal hygiene,showering, restroom assistance, and preparing for bedtime. Assists and/or prepares meals incompliance with dietary restrictions; assists individuals to eat, including those who may requireassistance with G-tube feeding.
Assists in the administration and monitoring of medications.
Assists in care and cleaning of residential home, which includes housekeeping, & laundering ofresidents' clothing.
Conducts daily activities to assist in the development of the residents' living skills, consistent withtheir Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Support Plan (ISP) goals. Provides continuous activetreatment and engagement.
Completes all required reports and documentation on a daily basis. Attends all necessary staffmeetings and completes all required mandatory trainings.
May use company provided vehicle to transport individuals to health care appointments and othervarious locations. Participates in recreational activities in a variety of settings.

EDUCATION:
Typically requires High School Diploma, GED, or national equivalent.|DSP-I and DSP-II Certification required or must be attained within first year of hire or first year inposition.|Must possess and maintain valid CPR, CPI and First Aid Certifications.
EXPERIENCE:
1 to 2 years' experience, or equivalent combination of training, education and experience to performthe job successfully.
1-year minimum experience in a licensed residential setting working withmedical fragile adults with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for DSP I, II, and III include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist participants in daily planned activities.
Plan and create activities that are in alignment with person centered plans.

Assist the participants in community-based activities.

Education and Experience Requirements for DSP I: A High school graduate with some experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or experience in taking care of a family member with disabilities. As a member of the Outreach team team, the Outreach and Engagement Support Worker will work at SPY's Access Center location in Venice to provide services for SPY members experiencing homelessness as well as attend outreach sessions with the Outreach team. The Outreach and Engagement Support Worker will help coordinate outreach related programming, activities and events. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of direct service to at-risk populations and trauma-informed care. Specific knowledge or experience related to transitional aged youth experiencing homelessness is a plus.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Organize and coordinate engagement activities (document day, off-site outings, etc.)
Complete and submit all required forms, case records, statistical reports and documentation to the Director of Empowerment Programs within designated timelines.
Keep detailed notes and track data in SPY database and HMIS
Participate in meetings with collaborative agencies and other community meetings as directed.

There will be challenges:
Just like families, disabilities come in different types. You will see many of them along with the mental health challenges in the Individuals (aka the Program participants) that we serve. You will also learn about the different agencies and resources we work with to help you provide supportdirectly, or indirectly, to the Individuals.
There will be chores:
You will support the needs of the Individuals (both minors and adults) by coordinating services, e.g. you will initiate and complete intake assessments which includes interviewing prospective new Individuals and their family members to determine needed services, organize schedules and appointments, and you will proactively maintain open lines of communications with all key stakeholders (e.g., the Individuals, parents, conservators, agencies, employers, etc.) as you complete daily case notes, quarterly progress reports and share recommendations to the Individual's Service Plan based on your personal insights.
You will advocate for the Individual in court proceedings as part of the Judicial Intervention and Diversion Compliance Program. You will also assist in building community partnerships to enhance available resources for the Program in order to improve access for the Individuals and their families to all necessary community, physical, and mental health services.

You will participate in all required training, team, and company meetings to build your knowledge, skills, and abilities to grow in the family. We like to promote from within our own house!

Duties and Responsibilities
Report daily to Lead Assistant and/or Program Director
Work with and supervise assigned consumers (up to three consumers)
Supervise and/or assist consumers in toileting, diapering, dressing, grooming, bathing and other hygiene
and activities of daily living as deemed appropriate. If consumer is not toilet trained you will be required to
actively assist them in changing
Consumers may need help during lunch and snack including, but not limited to, active assisted feeding,
food preparation and clean up
Modifications/adaptations to methods may be necessary to achieve a desired behavior for consumers

Collaboration with Behavior Intervention Specialist on an as-needed basis to address specific consumer
needs
Ability to become certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, as scheduled by organization
Ability to intervene in consumer behaviors appropriately, as directed

Must actively monitor (line-of-sight) consumer(s) at all times; must have the ability to chase consumer in
the event of eloping/fleeing.
Physical ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, squat, sit and stand as needed for proper engagement of the
client (up to 25 lbs.)
Physical ability to assist client in standing or sitting in a chair or on the floor (holding/carrying client up to
75 lbs. with help of other staff member.)
Actively engage the consumer at all times throughout the day.
Complete related paperwork/documentation as directed
Ability to properly use verbal praise and behavior reinforcement(s)

The successful candidate will go through a month-long paid training consisting of three parts (RBT 40-hour online modules, 5 day in-person training and observations). The candidate will work with the clinical staff to tailor ABA interventions to help clients meet their needs. The candidate will also provide parent training (training parent ABA interventions) and provide constructive feedback to clients/parents.
