Many of the individuals CIS serves are challenged by severe behavioral and mental health issues. Enhance the coordination of supports available to clients, including.
Health and safety.
Increase the provision of support to all houses as directed.
Be responsible for taking action when the on-call or program coordinator contacts you during your scheduled shift to give directives as to what is needed and where to go.
Communicate regularly with Program Managers for the houses you support regarding client issues and DSP interactions.
Communicate regularly with Managers regarding health and safety issues for houses as assigned.
Attend monthly house team meetings where recently supported and attend weekly meetings with program managers to discuss issues.
Follow the developed Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP), Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP), Exceptions to Policy (ETP), and any restrictive or Crisis Intervention Response Procedures (crisis plans).
Assignments involve work of a confidential or complex nature, necessitating exposure to sensitive information and contacts requiring considerable discretion, judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
Shift will require at least one weekend day per week.
Fill in shifts as needed to cover houses (e.g., while another staff takes a client to a medical appointment and/or therapy, callouts, break coverage, etc).
Review client documentation for completion and accuracy.
Review client meds for expiration dates, need for ordering refills, etc.
Schedule fire drills for houses and observe client/employee responses.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Must be able to pass criminal background check
Must be a team player committed to the common purpose of assisting individuals in need.
Must be sensitive and act accordingly to program participants who may be dealing with multiple traumas and stressors which may or may not be a contributing factor to their housing situation.
Must possess the ability to create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. In doing so, develop helpful relationships with program participants as well as with other staff and volunteers.
Must possess the ability to describe in writing all incidents and activities in shelter in a clear and understandable manner in a daily shelter log and incident reports.

No level of education is required for the position. However, the employee must be able to demonstrate an understanding of a variety of human behaviors and be able to adapt to any given situation. The employee must be able to show strength of character in the face of individuals in crisis, trauma and undefined housing status.
Summary of Duties
It is the goal of the corps officer that the shelter be the extension of the services and care provided from The Salvation Army Centralia. The Shelter Supervisor would be the main contact person on all employee and volunteer concerns in the program and would respond appropriately. If there are any concerns or requests that cannot be handled, then it would need to be brought to the immediate attention of the Corps Officer.
Summary of Job Duties (Performing Nightly Shelter Duties as Needed)
Staffing and scheduling requirements might require employee to work different shifts, as required. There are to be two standard shifts, first (opening shift) and second (closing shift). Each shift will be 6.5 hours in length with a 30-minute lunch bread that will be required to take each workday. Requirements for the safety, staff, and clients will be the same for each shift worked. There will be different responsibilities between opening and closing shifts.
The employee will need to follow basic rules of operation as posted by The Salvation Army for both clients and staff. This includes but is not limited to admittance of clients into the program for the night, enforcement of what personal items can and cannot be included in their personal space, the issuing of bedding to each client upon their arrival, general cleaning and maintaining of building property.
Performing the outlined tasks for either the opening or closing of the shelter operation for the night. This would be accomplished by completing the task sheet for a particular shift, for which has been assigned.
Abide by The Salvation Army's Social Services Code of Ethics. This would include any appearance of conflict of interest with program participants and/or volunteers (see attached)
Provide a warm, caring and courteous environment that encourages cooperation, respect and a feeling of community.
Enter pertinent information of all activities and events into the shelter daily log during your assigned shift.
Provide all program participants, staff, and volunteers with a safe and secure environment. This includes but is not limited to regular walk throughs of the shelter sleeping area, checking the bathrooms, monitoring the shower/hygiene area, and maintaining a presence in the client areas. Diffuse any conflicts as they arise and communication with other staff and the Corps Officer any findings or concerns.
Distribute personal necessities to the clients as needed and as items are available.
As time permits, launder excess blankets, towels and bedding as needed.
Support volunteers who are assigned during your shifts by orienting them to the safety guidelines and responsibilities.
Attend any and all meetings scheduled by the shelter supervisory for training, planning, and operations.
Maintain strict client confidentiality keeping records secure and notifying the Shelter Supervisor of any issues/problems that they may need to be aware of during or after any given shift.
Perform other tasks as necessary as assigned or requested by a supervisor.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel and/or twist on an intermittent or continual basis
Ability to grasp, push, or pull objects such as files, bins, drawers.
Ability to reach overhead.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the DirectSupportProfessional:
• Provides support to program participants that meets their needs, provides opportunities for community integration, including swimming, and creates a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.• Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.• Provides each participant with an array of instruction and support services, as described in the participants' Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).• Provides support and or supervision as outlined in the clients Quarterly Treatment Plan and Positive Behavior Support Plan. • Be aware of CP Clients location at all times and ensure CP Clients do not leave the program without properly trained staff or valid Chaperone Agreement unless exercising an approved Reduction in Supervision plan. • Documents all unusual or unsafe behavior, refusal/failure to follow treatment guidelines, or refusal to attend therapy in an Incident Report and notify supervisors per policy.• Act as a positive role model and maintain professional boundaries at all times.• Call 911 and notify program supervisors immediately if a CP Client leaves supervision.• Stay awake at all times and make visual checks on each resident every half-hour when they are not within line-of-sight supervision in the home.• Keep CP Clients in their line-of-sight at all times in the home unless they are alone in their bedroom or bathroom. • Never leave two CP Clients alone without line-of-sight supervision. • Ensure CP Clients are not entering another client's bedroom at any time. If a CP Client is another client's bedroom, provide physical supervision until they leave and complete an Incident Report.• Check any alarm equipment in use to track movement on every shift. Notify a supervisor immediately of any faulty equipment and complete an Incident Report.• Review and sign Positive Behavior Support Plan monthly.• Follow all recommendations made by Therapists and approved by Program Directors/Managers.• Always maintain physical supervision (arms length) in the community unless the therapist has authorized line-of-sight supervision due to the nature of the outing. Always be prepared to resume physical supervision if necessary due to a safety concern.• Never supervise more than 2 CP Clients at one time in the community without approval from a Program Manager/Director.• Avoid crowded areas where minors or vulnerable persons congregate when working with CP Clients that have a history of offending behavior unless approved in writing by their therapist.• Make sure CP Clients use a single occupancy restroom in the community. If a single occupancy restroom is not available, wait until the restroom is cleared of all children and stay in the restroom until the CP Client is finished. Encourage CP Clients to use a stall rather than urinals. Maintain supervision at all times. • Ensures that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.• Assists participants with regularly accessing the community to take part in a variety of outings of the participants' choosing. This may require transporting participants or arranging for transportation.• Ensures that participants are treated with dignity and consideration at all times. Promotes and safeguards each participant's ability to make decisions and to freely exercise his or her rights.• Interacts with participants, provides informal counseling and problem-solves with participants.• Attends staff meetings as required by the House Manager or the Site Supervisor and/or Administrator.• Attends training offered/required by the agency, DDA, and other parties.• Takes part in the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant with whom they work.• Will become Nurse Assistant Registered (NAR) at employee's own expense initially and annually.• Must enroll and complete Nurse Delegation study course and take the test within 30 days of employment.• Provides necessary support and supervision of participants.• Maintains professional working relationships with other services providers, the participants' parents/relatives/guardians and other agency staff. Responsible for timely completion of all documentation, including, but not limited to, the medication log, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records.• Performs other duties as assigned by the House Manager or the Site Supervisor and/or the Administrator.• Must have a valid driver's license and car and must be willing to transport clients in own vehicle.• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:• Must be 18 years of age with High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.• Must have a fingerprint and criminal clearance prior to starting.

The DirectSupportProfessional (DSP) is a non-supervisory position with the primary function of supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes, and in their communities throughout King County. JOB SUMMARY
The DirectSupportProfessional provides one-to-one support to the participants who are in the Supported Living program. The DSP is responsible for daily notations and other required documentation. to the DSP provides supports which assist in fostering inclusion and independence. The support that they provide should be reflective of The Arc's mission, the Residential Guidelines, and the Washington Administrative codes (WAC). The DSP will advocate on behalf of participants on multiple levels including.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist participant with community inclusion social integration.
Attend appointments with participants (medial, housing, ISPs).
Quarterly safety logs.
Assist participant in setting and meeting goals and meeting ISP objectives.
Assist participant with Housing reviews.
Assist participant in finding housing.
Complete required documentation and daily narratives.
Assist participants in managing their finances as directed by their Independent Financial Plan (IFP).
Assists participant with home supports (cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc.).
Assists participant with goals and approaches as directed by doctor/therapist.
Performs Delegated Medication administration as needed.
Assist participant with personal care tasks as needed.
Provide HR Director with documentation of their training and certifications as required by the state to maintain employment as a DSP.
Enter participant appointments in the appropriate area of Therap.
Strategize and Collaborate with Leads in meeting participant support needs.
Assist with Orientation of new staff by being an exemplary example and providing information relevant to participant supports to new staff who are shadowing.

Education
