By taking control of the choices that control their lives, people with developmental disabilities can better direct their own futures. Through patience, guidance, encouragement and Person-Centered Planning, we support the individuals we serve to develop the confidence and skills they need to make meaningful choices, reach self set goals, as well as experience fulfillment and greater independence.
As support staff, each shift offers new experiences and the reward of knowing youve made a difference. In this position, a few examples of the type of work you will be doing may include assisting the individual with: learning daily skills and activities, menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, budgeting, cleaning, using public transportation, making and attending appointments, volunteering, and participating in social leisure activities.
Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide in-home and community based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start SLS.
Documenting of daily charting notes.
Reporting of issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.

* Monitors residents remaining in units for temporary illnesses such as a cold, flu, etc. Sees that these residents have trays delivered to them for each meal. Observes, reports, documents any changes noted with resident to Resident Services Manager and /or Director or LVN on duty. Answers emergency call signals. Charts in individual Resident Care Chart when appropriate. Completes incident report when applicable. Informs manager of any charges for any medical supplies given to residents.
* Assists community agencies such as Hospice/Home Care in providing care to residents.
* Assists relatives, visitors and guests and directs requests or concerns to appropriate person.
* Maintain a positive working relationship with other departments. Interact in a supportive, collaborative manner with all MMT team members.

SLS QUALIFICATIONS + PRE-REQUISITES:

Position Summary:
The Resident Care Associate (RCA) provides personal care, companion care, nursing assistance and other assigned tasks to residents living in Eskaton communities.
