Works with law enforcement through a community-based response for families with children in Sedgwick County. Utilizes multidisciplinary strategies and responses to effectively address cases involving children who have been or are at risk of being a victim of abuse and/or neglect. In addition, performs completion of intake, follow-up, and outreach appointments.
Screenings and Intakes
* Based on referral from patrol or other law enforcement officer, make contact with family to complete screenings using motivational interviewing and other best practice techniques.
* Engage adults and children in mapping what's going well, worries and engage family's safety network for stability and resiliency.
* Provide and promote general health and safety materials such as safe sleep, period of purple crying, early reading benefits and general/ universal primary prevention reinforcement.
Establishment of Supports and Resources
* Complete and maintain Plans of Safe Care alongside families with infants.
* Refer families to home visiting, early childhood, youth mentoring, parent skill building, mental health and substance service providers.
* Provide support and connections for family to avoid another event with law enforcement.
* Follow up with patrol or other officers as needed.
Documentation and Data Collection
* Document required data elements for each family seen for data collection.
* Submit data for reports and prepare reports or promotional materials or the community specialist program as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in a human services field from an accredited college or university. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver's license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must have access to a personal passenger vehicle for transportation of materials/individuals to complete the essential functions. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens. Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office.
Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years of related work experience in the human services field. Master's degree or higher in a human services field from an accredited college or university.

The Children's Psychosocial Program Worker provides psychosocial rehabilitation, individual and group to children with serious emotional, behavioral or psychological disorders, with the purpose of skill building in areas of problem solving, social, skills, personal relationships and health/hygiene in accordance with treatment plan goals.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides Psychosocial group services to children at scheduled times.
Provides other services such as TCM, CPST, PRI, or AC as directed.
Meets required productivity expectations.
Meets required documentation standards with content and timeliness.
Facilitates groups following set/planned curriculum as directed by supervisor, filling in where needed. Participating in community/volunteer activities with child and engage the child in planned goal focused activities.
Provides transportation as needed for the child to and from the activity site in accordance with program and agency guidelines.
Documents activities during sessions on progress notes and noting any concerns or questions in accordance with Medicaid standards.
Communicates any concerns/questions to the Children's Team Lead.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of service provision. Completes progress notes in a manner that individualized each note, reflecting appropriate interventions and progress towards goals.
Meets deadlines set by supervisor and ensures accuracy of daily sign in sheets, psychosocial progress notes, mileage sheets and electronic timesheets.
OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate in compliance with personnel policies and practices.
Promote the mission and values of the Mental Health America.
Attending MHA staff meetings and training as required.
Completing required time sheets, mileage sheets, expense sheets and other agency required paperwork accurately and on time.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Annual background checks to continually meet KDHE guidelines for staff. The Children's Psychosocial Worker is expected to have a high school diploma with a minimum of two years post high school experience working with children. Preferred areas of experience include: working with children that have special needs, group process, family dynamics, community resources, and service provision. Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail along with effective communications skills both verbally and written and the ability to develop and maintain rapport with consumers, constituents, and staff. In addition, the Children's Psychosocial Program Worker is expected to be at least 18 years of age.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, team members, supervisors, and all persons involved in the students' programs.
Document and/or report any health concerns, whether ongoing (i.e. diabetes, seizures) or emergent (i.e., lacerations, bruises).
Document and report any instances of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other unusual incidents or events, as per Heartspring and Department of Child & Family Services guidelines.
Prompt and regular attendance is required; working on major holidays is necessary, as scheduled.
Assist in training and welcoming new Direct Support Professionals.
Provide specific verbal praise for students throughout the day.
Prepare and serve meals for students as needed, based on dietary restrictions and programming needs.
Provide for the safety and protection of the students in the event of an emergency (fire, tornado, severe weather, etc.), whether on campus or out in the community.
Label and maintain students' clothing and personal belongings and notifying the supervisor of any needs in a timely manner.
