Responsibilities:
Operate Horizontal Directional Drills for underground utility installations
Locate existing utilities
Maintain all equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines while reporting any findings to supervisor
Communicate work progress and safety performance to the site supervision
Prepare construction sites as directed from the Foreman/Superintendent on the job
Proven ability to operate heavy equipment or directional drilling experience
Valid driver/operator license
High school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experience in the inside and/or outside gas contracting sector
Must hold a valid Class A CDL along with DOT Medical Card
Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
Knowledge of basic equipment and vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
Must have a good understanding of Underground concepts and techniques, including project control, planning and resource management

The Drill Rig Operator will be in charge of drilling and tooling, operating company equipment, and responsible for running a crew. This position requires 100% travel (Company Paid)
Specific duties:
Operate foundation type drill rigs.
Drill holes ranging in size from 2" to 9' in diameter and up to 40'+ in depth.
Perform safety meetings on OSHA standards.
Perform minor equipment repairs on drills in the field when necessary. (i.e., replace hydraulics hoses, cables, troubleshoot electrical issues.)
Maintain equipment and be mechanically inclined with the understanding of hydraulics.
Complete drilling logs and equipment inspection reports.
Forecasting equipment, tooling and material needs while helping with the procurement of small items when needed.
Ability to travel 6 weeks at a time followed by a 7-10 day break.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Underground Driller is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of underground and surface drilling rigs to meet production targets.
