We are looking for an experienced hardware manager to lead the hardware and embedded system development for Mojo Lens accessory devices. These companion devices include a body-worn compute module, lens charging and cleaning systems.

ResponsibilitiesManage the full life cycle of boards and systems: from concept, design, manufacturing, bring-up, QA, bug tracking & issue management Manage embedded system development including FPGA and real-time operating systems Comfortable in wearing multiple hats. Comfortable in being totally hands-on in all aspect of HW/PCB design, bring-up and debug when needed. You are in charge of the team and yourself.Establish a company-wide standardized design process & design life-cycle management Ability to excel in a team environment. Ability to clearly articulate design constraints and trade-offs to a diverse cross-functional team, including SW, ID, mechanical, and ASIC design teams

QualificationsB.S. in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years experience in hardware design10+ years of people management experience Proven track record in designing high-volume, consumer electronics/communication devices/wearables from concept to production Deep experience with the system development process including concept creation, schematics and board development, as well as board and system bring up and debugging Deep experience with embedded software development flow, including real-time OS, embedded LINUX and FPGAExperience with designing electronics around an industrial design concept and mechanical form factor Design experience with embedded system technologies including FPGAs, MCUs and SoCsExperience with signal integrity simulation and debug, dealing with sensitive analog and RF signals

The Director of Hardware Systems Engineering is responsible for formulating a long-term vision for the Hardware Engineering group and manages the capabilities of the team to ensure that business objectives can be met as it pertains to Hardware technology and development.

The Hardware Engineering group consists of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, quality assurance staff, and project managers. The products developed by this group utilize functional staff from other business groups in a matrixed organization. These are complex products comprising mechanical & electrical components, embedded firmware, as well as interfacing software & algorithms.
Key Areas of Responsibility:

Organizational Structure:

* Direct the strategic development, management and deployment of hardware engineering, project management and QA resources
* Partner via a matrixed organization with software engineering, computational physics, product management, regulatory, manufacturing, service, and sales to deliver products for the RT Measurement business
* Partner with Director of Product Management to address business needs, priorities and maximize development output
* Partner with the Director of Software Development to align product integration roadmaps and shared staffing

Leadership:

* Act as a transformational agent within the Hardware Engineering group to break down silos
* Lead a shift in group identity to view products as cross-functional systems engineering endeavors
* Directly manage development team and projects using Lean and Visual Project Management methodologies in an integrated, cross-functional, project team environment
* Mentor hardware group project management staff to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and meeting requirement specifications
* Serve as director over a team of managers, establishing metrics and goals for group and individual performance measurement tracking
* Mentor managers to implement best practices to motivate and organize their teams

* Provide guidance and input to strategic and technical planning for hardware development projects via market strategies aligned with product management
* Develop and deliver the innovation strategy required to deliver the market strategy

* Provide support as needed for the Commercial Launch Process for new hardware product introductions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering
* 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering, or combined equivalent of education and experience
* Experience working in quality system regulated engineering environment is required; medical device environment is preferred.
* Experience bringing together distinct teams into a single functional organization; experience doing this with geographically separated teams is helpful
* Ability to effectively communicate strategies and updates in a varied, cross-functional environment
* Management and leadership background with experience leading full lifecycle developments, including executing performance appraisals, managing staffing allocation, process leadership, and career development
* Ability to influence from both a strategic and technical standpoint across the hardware engineering function and the business
* Strong knowledge of professional engineering best practices, including engineering standards, design reviews, supply chain management, integration, testing, and concurrent operations engineering
* Experience executing large and small projects on time, on budget, and meeting required specifications
