Stetson University director, marketing & promotions job description

Reports to the Associate Athletic Director of External Operations with daily supervision under the Assistant Athletic Director for Sponsorships and Community Outreach. Assists with coordination of marketing plans and promotions for all of Stetson University's intercollegiate athletic programs to enhance the game day experience, sponsorship fulfillment, stimulate increased attendance, ticket sales, and foster student and community involvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Assists in design and implementation of effective marketing campaigns to increase revenue and enhance exposure for the department and its individual sports programs.

+ Work alongside the Assistant Athletic Director for Sponsorships & Community Outreach to develop corporate sponsorship inventory and to coordinate and execute all game day sponsorship fulfillment.

+ Assists with the creation of a fan-centric game day atmosphere and establishment of new promotions, events, and traditions to increase the branding, marketing, and fan experience of all athletics constituents.

+ Develops marketing strategy to leverage non-traditional communication channels, including social media, email, and digital advertising as well as traditional and grassroots efforts.

+ Coordinates efforts with marketing and communication staff for creation of graphics, digital imaging and creative videos for athletic department and teams.

+ Hire, train, supervise and schedule independent contractors, athletic marketing interns, student workers and graduate assistant(s).

+ Develop, coordinate and implement all game-day promotional events; collaborate with student organizations; maximize video board displays for game-day promotions to include special entrances and game atmosphere.

+ Work directly with the cheerleading coach to market the cheerleading squad and mascot systematically.

+ Coordinate, promote and script articulation with Pep Band (football and basketball), cheerleaders and dance teams.

+ Develops comprehensive marketing plans for sports as assigned.

+ Responsible for operations of all videoboards at athletic facilities

+ Assists with ticket sales and outreach; promotes tickets sales for all revenue-generating sports.

+ Assists in all aspects of game day across multiple sports and events including in-game sponsor fulfilment.

+ Develop, coordinate and implement all game-day promotional events; collaborate with student organizations (ie: Greek Life, Housing, and Student Government) to maintain and foster athletics attendance and support.

+ Coordinates and manages special athletics events to engage and expand outreach efforts.

+ Provides assistance in managing and coordinating the department's social media efforts.

+ Coordinate charitable requests alongside the ticket office as needed

+ Executes additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sponsorships and Community Outreach and/or Associate AD for External Operations

+ Performs other site and position specific functions as assigned.

Required Skills

+ Firm working knowledge of marketing concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

+ The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

+ Excellent computer skills and proficiency with main operations systems such as Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Daktronics Show Control. Experience with PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and other similar graphic design software.

+ Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Required Experience

+ Bachelor's degree required with professional experience in a collegiate athletic department setting preferably in Sports Marketing, Advertising, Promotions, Sponsorships, Events.

Salary grade: 7

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University's auto insurance carrier.
